Asmir Begovic

Bamford's loan sounds good, would be great to see him with Berahino.

Against Berahino you mean?.. Stoke have Crouch, Diouf and Walters.

Reports in the Mail are now linking United with Begovic. Why we signed off on the Cech deal before we have another firmly in place, God only knows. It puts us at a major disadvantage when negotiating a deal for a keeper.

I'd be very surprised if Utd go for Begovic.

If they sell de Gea I expect them to go for Lloris ..

And get him.

Could end up missing out on him if this drags on too long and United come in for him.

If De Gae goes to Madrid, Begovic would surely prefer to be number 1 there than number 2 here.

John Percy in Telegraph reported yesterday it is almost done, this week itll be confirmed.  Stoke fans claim John Percy is reliable as they come for Stoke news

Good move for Chelsea, bad move for his career.

He'll still get some game time, and be around enough important matches that he'll learn from it.  He'll also be training with a more experienced (I'm generalizing a little here) staff at Chelsea than at Stoke.  I think there are plenty positives if this deal goes through; certainly mire than the Rob Green rumours.

There is no sugarcoating it, He is way too good a GK to be sitting on the bench ever week.

True, but he's got more chance winning something if he leaves Stoke.

well if courtois has any mares next season, they'll be a top keeper ready to step in his place. i think this is a good thing to keep courtois on his toes, rather than if we had a sub par keeper as back up.

He probably wants to win some medals before his days are over, he might see it as a good career move.

They may lure him with more money. They actually believe they will win PL this season so who knows what's on Begovic mind.

We aren't very good businessmen at Chelsea. Why would we let Cech go before we had a replacement. Now Stoke have us over a barrel with regards to fee and Man Utd can offer him a far better package than we can.

The replacement should have been wrapped up first. Most other teams do this bit we never seem to.

Because if the deal fell through with Arsenal suddenly we're left with 3 goalkeepers all arguably capable of being first choice.

Begovic is in the final year of his contract I believe, there's only so much they can do to keep hold of him.

To say Chelsea aren't good businessman when we've raised something like £150m in player sales for players who aren't first choice within 2 years is a little shortsighted.

That is actually a fair point, I did jump the gun slightly. In the context of signing young talent and selling it on at a profit we do do very good business. Also our reaches out in to the Far East and the USA also prove our business acumen.

My greviance towards this sell first buy later mindset that we seem to have. After all Cech isn't the first player to be sold before a replacement was nailed on. Even if we had as you say ended up with 3 first team goalkeepers we would never have been stuck with Cech. The guy is amazing quality and even if Arsenal were stupid enough to drop their interest in him, there would have been plenty of other clubs there in a heartbeat.

I guess I'm just worried about ManUre sniffing around and I had previously called this situation earlier on in the thread.

Asmir Begovic is a smart man. Not only will he be better positioned to win trophies with this move, he'll have a chance to play in the Champions League and he'll be playing for one of the biggest clubs on the planet. Cech played 17 games last season, which is enough to keep Begovic sharp I would think. Its not as if he needs to play every week to keep his spot in the Bosnian squad.
