Why would muller leave? Quality player, but with Uniteds signings and they're abundance of midfielders, I find it hard to believe they would in for muller.

Positionally very similar to Rooney. Can't see there being much truth in this tbh.

Rumours have been circulating for a couple of years now that he isn't that happy playing under Pep.

Wouldn't rule this one out just yet.

Muller to Man Utd would be massive, and given the other additions to their midfield (Bastian knows Muller too) I think that would tip them towards being favourite for the title.  If they sign Pedro too, i'll be amazed at their squad - and suggest that we maybe look at some of their "surplus" players.

Just wonder how the medai would paint their success next year should they sign all these players?  Historical Manchester United back where they belong....or, Man Utd bankroll way to title.

Funny how, when we do it, we're buying the league.

Ed Woodward is going mental. He's like a hungry child in a sweet shop.

I thought you Utd fans thought he was useless? There was some moaning about him a year or two ago.

£70 million for muller would be too much in my opinion. if any forward is worth that, then it would be lewandowski, not muller. the market is becoming a bit ridiculous now with the prices banded about for top players.

Newcastle spending more than they have in recent memory.

Just signed Aleksandar Mitrovic who was the top scorer in Belgium last season for £13m having already signed Georginio Wijnaldum from PSV for £14.5m.

Steve McClaren getting backing from Ashley that Pardiola could only have dreamed of.

Whether Utd have 'earned' their money or not, spending like they are - or that we assume they'll continue to do - is no different in my eyes than us spending Romans money. And we certainly don't go bat sh*t crazy over buying hoards of (sometimes expensive) players like they're doing. I don't think LVG knows who he wants, just wants them all and then see what happens.

They've always this air about them that they bring players through the ranks and take youth and turn them into stars, but they're no better than anyone else. Fergie kept this illusion alive but now he's gone they're just the same as everyone else.

in my opinion, i think van gaal is insecure about his managerial competence in this league and is starting to buy, buy, buy to make up for it. he came last season and soon realised this league isn't one you put little effort into, you have to really be astute to compete at the highest level.

Yes, not unlike Brenda.

I think United's spending has been decent personally.

They've targeted areas that they feel need improvement and haven't concerned themselves with offloading people for profit.

Nani was surplus to requirements and so he was shipped off for less than £5m. Same goes for RVP, quality player but gone without a second thought.

Defence was clearly an issue so they've got rid of Rafael despite his being at the club since he was a teenager and Van Gaal is being allowed to mold the squad to his liking rather than feeding on the scraps from Fergies last term.

I don't think Herrera lived up to expectations and I don't think he was a LVG signing as he was linked to the club when Moyes was there and so they've wasted no time in bringing in two new midfielders.

Basically the club are putting their money where their mouth is where the LVG appointment is concerned, lessons were learned the hard way with the Moyes appointment.

It's a ruthless overhaul, it's bold and brave and it could blow up in their face because it's a huge expectation on so many new players settling in quickly.

Remember Ashley's comments last season he wouldn't leave until they've won a trophy (he included finishing in the top 4 as a trophy) maybe he's trying to push that so he can get the for sale sign up faster lol

I reckon Muller for £70mil would be a bargain tbh.

No it is not.

Just shows how absolutely out of touch football economy is

This. Its farcical.
