September 3, 201510 yr Oh dear, no new striker for the goons and now wellbeck is out for an unknown length of time with an injury. So arsenal. Somebody should create a boom-bust cycle for Arsenal like the one Liverpool have, it shouldn't be too hard to make
September 3, 201510 yr Somebody should create a boom-bust cycle for Arsenal like the one Liverpool have, it shouldn't be too hard to make I've thought that before. Also for us - except ours would be like the reverse of the Liverpool one - "our team is crap" "we need 6 more players" "we really will struggle" "we're not winning at half time, we're shocking" "ok we won the league, but really didn't deserve to".

September 3, 201510 yr In a couple of years time, for the first time in history, we will have a tie between 2 players for the ballon d or award. Those players will be anthony martial and adnan januzaj

September 4, 201510 yr Football manager is a game mate, not real life My post could not have been more sarcastic
September 4, 201510 yr Author Florentino Pérez on the De Gea deal: “‘I think what they lack is experience. We have missed out on players before, Franck Ribéry and Patrick Vieira for example, but what is surprising is that someone wants to do a deal and only starts the process 12 hours before. It’s the inexperience of the new people in charge. We have worked with them [united] before, with Peter Kenyon and David Gill and with Sir Alex Ferguson. “We still have a good relationship with Manchester United but this is the exactly the same as what happened before with [Fábio] Coentrão and [Ander] Herrera and we thought they would have learned from what happened in the past.” United narrowly failed to sign Coentrão and Herrera on deadline day two years ago.
September 4, 201510 yr madrid had the whole summer to sign him, they left it to the last day, no-one to blame but themselves
September 4, 201510 yr madrid had the whole summer to sign him, they left it to the last day, no-one to blame but themselves Real have been courting him for ages. You can't buy until the seller is prepared to sell. United obviously don't need the money so they tactically waited until the end of the window in order to squeeze the most out of Real. Unfortunately for them, because of their own incompetence, it looks as they may have to settle for half of what Real were prepared to pay in Jan or nothing at all next summer!
September 4, 201510 yr Presumably they're fine with Navas and Casilla, as well as the knowledge that they can get De Gea for free the following summer.

Unfortunately for them, because of their own incompetence, it looks as they may have to settle for half of what Real were prepared to pay in Jan or nothing at all next summer! I think it was clear he was for sake weeks ago not simply on deadline day. Madrid at fault here.
September 4, 201510 yr Obviously as a United fan you may expect me to say this, but, having read all of the statements, it is clear that United were not at fault here. We had all of the documents sent off in time, which the FA is willing to back up. I think it is also telling that Madrid are refusing to appeal. Either Madrid got cold feet or they messed up and now Perez (the weasel) is trying to cover up or to appease De Gea. From our perspective, I could not be happier. De Gea is a professional and should come back for us at some point at or close to last year's form. He needs to as he will want to play for Spain in the Euros. The money was never that much in all honesty. All that has happened is Perez has alienated his number one keeper (who apparently asked United if the move was still on after the Spanish deadline was over, but ours wasn't.) The Madrid fans see him as lying and covering up his mistake (and never really wanted De Gea anyway - as shown by the 86% of 15000 Madrid fans polled who said they did not want De Gea. They also see Perez as someone who forced out Casillas, a club legend. Combine all of this with Barcelona's return to the top of Spanish football and their treble last year and it is clear that Perez is sh*tting himself. Overall, he is worried about re-election and so is trying to make it look like it was United's fault. The fact that he mentioned Otamendi (who we were never in for) and Herrera, which was a completely different situation, shows how desperate he is to make us look bad and himself better. September 4, 201510 yr Either Madrid got cold feet or they messed up and now Perez (the weasel) is trying to cover up or to appease De Gea. Or they just figured that they're not in any hurry to sign the player and can now get him for much less money in January or for free next summer. That's if De Gea doesn't sign a new contract with ManU. If he has set his mind on making the move to Madrid, he won't sign an extension or a new contract.

That's if De Gea doesn't sign a new contract with ManU. If he has set his mind on making the move to Madrid, he won't sign an extension or a new contract. Something happened but if they were always willing to wait then why go through it all on deadline day? The player was already unsettled so it didn't do anything to help that. End of the day it's Madrid that are too blame and they should accept that instead of pointing fingers at United who as we know from FIFA did retrying correctly and on time at their end.
September 4, 201510 yr Something happened but if they were always willing to wait then why go through it all on deadline day? The player was already unsettled so it didn't do anything to help that. I can only speculate, but maybe they were involved in the negotiations right until the transfer window closed to make sure no other club wouldn't steal their transfer target. It seemed like a done deal for weeks, but only the clubs and the player knows what really went on behind the scenes. I seriously doubt it fell through because of sheer incompetence.

I'm not saying it did but regardless Real are the ones who messed it up for whatever reason. Them pointing the finger at United is like a child who misbehaves then blames it on someone else. September 4, 201510 yr Real wanted to buy De Gea. United wanted to keep De Gea. De Gea is still United's player. You decide who messed up.
September 4, 201510 yr Well one didn't get their player, and the other is paying a player who probably won't play for them and then will leave for less/free They both messed up but United is gonna pay for it more. Edited September 4, 201510 yr by Stim
September 4, 201510 yr Don't see why De Gea wouldn't be their first choice this season. He needs to play to have his place for the Euros and he's a professional. Also United's other keepers are leagues behind him. He's worth more to United saving points for them than the money offered by Real.
September 4, 201510 yr Well Real don't have to pay £29m or give up Keylor Navas, who is a pretty damn good goalkeeper in his own right
