August 6, 201510 yr So, I haven't seen any thread about him. I think he's very talented and I think he will make it here. He plays as defender, I believe he knows to play the CB but he's better at RB. He's only 18 and I believe he will have a bright future and I hope he will make it here, in Chelsea. He played in pre-season with the senior team and made his first start of the pre-season against Fiorentina. He looked very good and very tide on his position. He still have to grow but I already found something special in him. I hope Jose will give him few games next season, he looks very promising for me. I think he showed that in a short period during the pre-season. What are your opinions about him? (sorry if there's a thread about him, maybe I missed while checking, but I didn't find any thread about him)
August 6, 201510 yr First time I saw him play was in the youth cup semi away at Arsenal a couple of years back. He played left back that night, and was one our best attacking players. Probably seen him about 10 times since and I don't think I've seen him have a bad game. Looks a really promising full back, and his versatility will be great to get his foot in the first team door. Not necessarily our first team though, but I suppose he has as good a chance as any of making the breakthrough at chelsea.
September 19, 201510 yr When Ivan goes we don't need to buy a replacement because this guy should hopefully get a chance. guy has everything, always impresses me.
October 24, 201510 yr Author Ivanovic is injured, also he isn't that top RB like he been last season and in past years. Seems like we (fans) don't want to see him playing as RB. Zouma isn't a RB, he doesn't look good there and it doesn't solve our problem in the defence. Baba Rahman doesn't get any trust from Jose, looks nervous a bit but he will learn from the games he would play. But I can't see Jose playing him that much. Maybe Ola Aina is our solution, maybe he is exactly what we are looking for? A young, good and strong RB?
October 24, 201510 yr With Jose in charge? Are you insane? He'd rather play Mikel at full back before Aina gets a chance.
October 27, 201510 yr With Jose in charge? Are you insane? He'd rather play Mikel at full back before Aina gets a chance. Sad but true.
January 12, 201610 yr Talk of him signing for Arsenal. The articles mention him rejecting a Chelsea contract extension, anyone know anything further?
January 12, 201610 yr Author http://metro.co.uk/2016/01/11/arsenal-ready-to-grab-transfer-of-chelsea-ace-ola-aina-report-5616750/ http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/633637/Arsenal-Liverpool-Chelsea-Ola-Aina-transfer-news-gossip We can't lose him, come on!
January 12, 201610 yr He only has 6 months left on his contract so it will be easy for him to sign elsewhere and will have his pick, although I would imagine that he will be suitably disappointed if he left to Arsenal as he is not going to get in the squad ahead of Bellerin, Chambers and Jenkinson who are all on long deals.'Liverpool were thought to be keen on the defender but Arsenal are now in pole position to secure a deal. Napoli and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the youngster's signature.''The Hammers, who also want a new right-back in the summer, have Aina in their sights too, as do Everton. Aina has also attracted interest from German side Bayer Leverkusen.' It was most likely a push for some game time here or just a better contract, but since apparently 'having refused to sign a new deal so far, the 19-year-old has been demoted from Chelsea’s first-team set-up to their U21s, edging him closer to the exit.' January 12, 201610 yr Not like Chelsea to leave someone uncontracted 6 months out? Surely something more to it
January 13, 201610 yr We'll get money for him as he's under 23 or 21, whatever. This is a situation that needs to be remedied quickly. I'm fine with Baba, Dave and Aina as our fullbacks for the long term. Maybe Guus will help us out, he's seen the light with Kenedy and RLC already
January 28, 201610 yr what a fantastic goal by ola aina in the u21's tonight vs spurs. last heard we were 3-0 up. https://twitter.com/amadoit/status/692795108861804546 Edited January 28, 201610 yr by enigma
March 29, 201610 yr Im going to so annoyed if we lose this guy. Rumours seem to heating up that he will probably leave which is a massive shame. Would have much preferred him over Baba who was just a 1 season wonder when we signed him, and he spends most the time on the bench anyway
March 29, 201610 yr Rumours seem to heating up that he will probably leave which is a massive shame. Would have much preferred him over Baba who was just a 1 season wonder when we signed him, and he spends most the time on the bench anyway You prefer a right back to a left back? He seems less likely to leave since we sacked Jose, a lot the the youth believe they have a better chance now Jose has gone.
March 29, 201610 yr You prefer a right back to a left back? He seems less likely to leave since we sacked Jose, a lot the the youth believe they have a better chance now Jose has gone. Is that based solely on the Sammut interview? Let's not pretend that Jose was the first coach who came in and didn't use young players. There's a reason JT is the last youth product to come through and truly establish himself, which suggests that it's a club problem. Also, Aina has also played some football at left-back in the youth system too.
March 30, 201610 yr He put a post on Instagram last night with the caption 'I can never be held down, take note' possibly a dig at club for not giving him opportunities?
