Baba Rahman - The heir to Ash?

Featured Replies

Last night was Baba Rahman's first game where i thought he looked comfortable. The nerves that we clear to see in his first few games with us weren't there last night, it made all the difference.

Anyone else noticed how much he slips over?

Yeah, but not as much as he is the furthest man forward, trying to get back on side. I think they need to trust him and slip him through when they can. He plays like a wingback/winger on the ball and can probably cause a lot of damage, being naturally left-footed.

This is what having an actual set of fullbacks does for you. The opposition wingers get so preoccupied with having to defend and track back they become less of a threat because they cant cheat and stay forward. Hopefully this is a nail in Ivanovics coffin at RB

Nail in Ivanovic's (BLOOD RISING!) coffin - at right back (Blood normalizes).

Sporting an impressive beard. A case of hair migration it looks like. From head to chin.

Excellent game against Dynamo, he destroyed Yarmolenko and was involved in the first goal. He should be our starter from now.

Oscar helped him quite a bit. Him and Haz is not as solid defensively. Oscar was actually very good in that game if you look at what he is doing. Ate his effectiveness from attack but Jose's idea was to keep Yarmolenko cold.

Anyway I want to see him play more and attack more.

It's refreshing to see his distribution. I don't think he hit one aimless cross field ball, which something ivanovic does far too often.

If he can just compose himself a bit more in the final 3rd, I think he can nail down a starting role for us long term.

Just to add, he seems to be going the same way as zouma, who also looked shaky in his first appearances, and was critised unfairly imo on here quite a bit.

Everyone cries out for youth players, but then have a go at them when they look nervous. We should give young players the same patience regardless of whether they came through our system or if they cost 10-15m.

^ rare instances where I would prefer to have no commentary on a YouTube football video.

I'd also prefer it if people didn't crop the video like that.

It's been awhile since I last saw our player consistently making the runs along the left flank instead of cutting in to the centre.

Glad that he was doing that during the match, at least it added something new into our game.

Yup... that had nothing to do with Ivan. But I also expect Baba to sit on the bench this weekend. That was the usual run of maximum 1 game, that youth players get under Mourinho.

His performance was acceptable for me today. He did his best and tried to do everything, I can't also blame him for the goal. He's learning from game to game and experience will come, just matter of time.

I thought he as ok, nothing spectacular but did ok against a good player. Maybe at times he was trying too hard to impress, like when he picked up the yellow in the fist half needlessly. I'd keep him in the team and give him the chance to improve.

In the long run him at LB and Dave at RB is best, if we actually utilise them to give us width going forward, and overlap our attackers, but today against a left footer on the right in Shakiri, I think Dave would have done better.

Not an easy place or player to play against but I felt his presence and ability to use his left foot really improved us. With a few games he will certainly get better and more confident.

I would hate for us to revert back to ivan at rb and azpil lb after the international break. Give this lad a run in the team
