Champions League Group Stage Draw

We can't draw Barcelona, Bayern, Juventus, or Paris Saint-Germain. We're fine.

I'd like to see us get Porto, Roma, and Wolfsburg.

Leverkusen, Olympiacos and Gent would be good in terms of easy group. Olympiacos could be quite a distance to travel though.

With you on Olypmiakos. That's a long way to travel relatively speaking. We've not gone up against Roma or a decent German team for a while, would be nice away fixtures.

Id like to see Madrid, Lyon and Gent. All short/easy travel times. Madrid to give us a test and the comedy of seeing FSW return to Stamford Bridge. Lyon for the travel mainly and I dont imagine they'll be too hard. Gent because we need some easy points and a chance for the younger players to see some action.

Madrid, Roma, Wolfsburg would be terrifying. Roma have quite a team and I think they will be problems for whoever they draw

Bayer leverkusen

Real madrid

Roma

Sevilla

Valencia

Atletico

Those would be my choices. May as well test ourselves early as may as well not be in the competition if we can't beat the better teams. I would personally like

Real madrid/Sevilla

Roma

Leverkusen

Giles Smith's take on it:

It’s all about the pots, of course, and this year UEFA have slightly streamlined things for the casual observer so that Pot One contains purely reigning champions of their country, such as ourselves, and the current holders of the trophy. This arrangement has the distinct advantage of removing all that slightly foggy ‘co-efficient’ stuff which nobody ever really seemed to be in a position to explain, apart, possibly, from Stephen Hawking, and he was never asked. (Black holes in space and the maths by which Arsenal got to occupy a persistent place in Pot One for all those years were equally complex scientific phenomena which a lifetime of study would probably never get to the bottom of.)

Below Pot One, though, mysteries still remain – the fact, for example, that Manchester City are a Pot Two side when history, surely, would place them in Pot Three at best. And the fact, too, that Manchester United are in Pot Two, when surely that’s a team that has Pot Four written all over it.

Real madrid, shactar, wolfsburg would be pretty tough so hoping to avoid those teams.

The fact that pot 2 has 3 English clubs means we've got a 50/50 chance of drawing a madrid team.

Best case scenario would be Leverkusen olympiakos and gent. Limited travel involved, not particularly difficult away fixtures.

Maths is hard huh, 40% chance not 50%.

I want a hard group. I don't want to wait until March to find out whether or not Jose has learnt anything from last season.

I want a hard group too and would be quite happy to see us draw the toughest teams in the draw. would make the champs league more interesting as CL nights at the bridge in the group stage are typically low key.

a tough group stage might lift our players' games, could be the trigger needed to really get us firing on all cylinders this season

I want the easiest group possible, don't understand wanting anything else.

Easier the group the more chance there will be for non-regulars to get involved and the potential for a couple of youngsters appearing in the last game or two.

Plus, there's nothing like being involved in the business end from the quarters onwards, so i'll take whatever maximises the chances of that happening.

What I definitely don't want is effectively a 3 team group like we got in 12-13.

Don't want Moscow, travelling to Moscow for the team could really tire them out. I do want Real simply because it's an eye catching fixture and I don't know about anyone else but I think the group stages have been lacking excitement for years. We watch football to watch these games and whilst an easy group all but guarantees qualification it's boring.

Obviously I'd prefer us to have a less challenging group, but if we're to draw one of the two big Spanish sides from Pot 2, I'd prefer it to be Real Madrid. I don't think there'd be a better set of fixtures to watch in the group stage if that happened.
