Hazard missing it already destroyed his confidence imo

Remember World Cup 2010 when suarez hand balled it off the line,  asamoa missed it, it went to pens stepped up first took the exact same pen but an inch lower and goal, I thought that's confidence, what balls, If I'd missed a pen I'd want the next one to set the record straight especially if I was the best pen taker in the EPL

He can't be trusted right now and we need a win.

Getting is confidence up is more important in my opinion. Also because this game should be winnable without that penalty.

Yep.

1-0 up already. A game we're likely to win. Confidence very low. What is there to lose? Everything to gain.

A few of my thoughts:

I think a lot of the Hazard criticism is a bit harsh.

He's far from the level he was at last season, but he's still easily one of our brighter sparks in atack (maybe that's not saying much at the moment, mind!).

There's plenty of nervy players under the spotlight at the moment, and it shows. The whole crowd could do with getting behind them (all I can hear is away support).

Good to see Oscar back - there's been a couple of glimpses of what he and Cesc can do when they're on form together.

On our younger players - neither Zouma nor Loftus Cheek look out of place, which is good to see. Not perfect performances, but it's great to see real desire on the pitch.

Rahmann looks pretty shaky but keen, hopefully just a bit of first start jitters. And Cahill looks absolutely fine with the armband on, looks to be leading the team well.

Hopefully the nerves settle and we can push on and use this as a springboard ahead of the weekend!

He needs some time on the bench where he can think? Sorry dude, but that's bullsh*t. You get over bad form, by playing.

What you propose basically says that it doesn't matter how bad you play, it's OK because you are Eden Hazard.

I'm sorry but I completely disagree with you.

Some of those young boys would give 200% if they would just get a chance. I cant believe that we just do not give these guys a go. Look at the best team in the world (Barca), they keep on giving youth a chance. Sergi Roberto is playing tonight.

These players are hungry. If Kennedy came on and plays amazing, hazard immediately has competition. He is so comfortable, no matter how bad he plays, there are no repercussions.

I know baba made a couple of mistakes but pace, ambition and a good tackle on him makes me feel much happier, he will settle in well, he has the ability,  sad to say because he used to be one of my favourite players but I feel so relieved when Ivan is off, I'd have JT for cahill and thats a good back 4, our problem is more DM, although RLC has played well still too much space, Garry has been good as well i'd add but that chance from eh free kick wouldn't have happened with JT on the pitch

Loftus cheek should get a lot of minutes this yr, he's been our best player today!!

Provided he keeps it up second half I hope Jose picks him against arsenal.

However I expect matic to come on for him around the 65 minute lol.

Glad we are pressing, Oscar has been vital for this, but the shape just looks wrong. A better team would pass circles round Fabregas and RLC and our defense has looked suspect, although that's probably because both full backs are pushing so high up.

An ok-ish first half from us, some players still don't look right though and our play still doesn't seem to be working at times. We still aren't really testing the keeper enough and the build up play usually comes to nothing. There is an edginess to our game.

I agree to an extent but this is Hazard here. The best player in the premier league last season. He's lacking confidence and he's not gonna build that by sitting on the bench. He needs to play through it.

Do you really think Hazard is 'comfortable' though? To me he looks pretty aware of the fact he's not reaching his high standards.

If there was a question of effort/desire I'd agree to leave him out for a bit, but I don't think that's the issue. It looks more like a confidence think to me, and I agree with Jose showing him faith through it. (Although, as I suggested in an earlier post, I still don't think he's playing 'that' poorly).

Eden is our star. He's had a poor start and it's important we keep our trust in him, because he's our only genuine world class talent. You don't just put them to the side after 4 or 5 poor games.

Youth is still getting a chance while he's in the team. Kennedy came on the other day. Looked terrible. Effort doesn't mean performance.
