October 8, 201510 yr He's really go his work cut out for him at Liverpool, there's so much dead weight in their squad, can imagine a lot of players being allowed to leave over the next couple of transfer windows.
October 8, 201510 yr He says he can get top 4 this season with minor adjustments in January. Depends if we sort our sh*t out or not.
October 8, 201510 yr Pretty much, yeah. Without us in the frame the top four is more or less guaranteed to be Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City, and one of Liverpool and Tottenham. With Klopp in charge I wouldn't bet against them. (Unless our Claudio has something up his sleeve)
October 8, 201510 yr It's not a foregone conclusion that we're out of the frame is it? We're seven points behind fourth spot at the moment and with 30 games to go that position surely isn't out of reach.
October 8, 201510 yr Not at all, I was just agreeing with FC that if we continue our current course of almost-mediocrity Liverpool are looking pretty good to finish in the Champions League spots.
October 8, 201510 yr If Jurgen Klopp wasn't available I'm not convinced they'd have sacked Rodgers when they did.
October 8, 201510 yr I'm sure shakley came to klopp in he's dreams and told him he should signDon't. I'm bracing myself for the photoshops.
October 8, 201510 yr Weird move for him. Maybe he wanted a big challenge ? Maybe they are paying him insane money. If they say its to continue the great tradition of LFC and he believes in the soul and future of the club then just pat the person on the head and say 'sure it is' Edited October 8, 201510 yr by Stim
October 8, 201510 yr His first press conference will be an indicator of his style. I'll be disappointed if he comes out with the usual LFC script.
October 9, 201510 yr I think he's going to kick serious ass at Liverpool. Oh look, we're going to Anfield the week after we play Villa at home.
October 9, 201510 yr To be honest, i don't know too much about Klopp's managerial record with clubs, but he certainly had a better squad at dortmund than he will have at liverpool. Not sure how much they can strengthen in jan tbh, so could be a struggle for them. van gaal is arguably a higher calibre manager than klopp (on paper) and he's been very inconsistent with that utd squad (which is better than liverpool's) so will be interesting to see if klopp actually makes that much of a difference. It might give them a moral boost, but whether this equates to them getting better results with that average team is another question entirely.
October 9, 201510 yr 3 year contract, apparently £7m a year. Huge money for managing a side that doesn't have Champions League football and has no guarantees of qualifying next season either. Edited October 9, 201510 yr by ForeverCarefree
October 9, 201510 yr I've not seen any interview/press conference yet, has he had one? Have we had the obligatory 'biggest club in the world' quote? Then again Klopp might not be as easily lead.

Having a press conference right now, on being asked why he took the job he answered "It’s the biggest honour I can imagine. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world. I will try to help the club but it is not as difficult as many people in the room here think. I was attracted by the intensity of the football and the fans. It’s perfect to be here." So not too cringe worthy just yet.

That's because Van Gaal's football doesn't suit this league in my opinion. Klopp's football is perfect for the league. High intensity, exciting football. Liverpool have a very good manager on their hands unfortunately - one of the best in the game.

October 9, 201510 yr He's getting there fast though. I can forgive "big club", it's history that's the problem. In fact in fairness to him, he's been rather dismissive of the club's history and it's significance. "It’s very important not to be weighed down by history. Lets not always compare with other times. This is a great club with good potential with players who are flexible. Let’s try to start a new way"
