Not a bad performance but we cannot score a goal. It's like having 11 Torres on the pitch.

 

To be fair I'd take Torres over Remy or Falcao....

Decent half so far, we look more fluid going forward and have been relatively untroubled at the back, the injury time chance from Walters aside. Certainly we have been by far the better team.

 

Rahman in particular has been very impressive. He really looks like he's fighting for a spot in the first team in the way that he has been chasing down every loose ball. He has very much kept Diouf quiet and it has been extremely interesting to see us with a proper overlap option on the left. Hope to see more of that.

 

Terry has looked far better and Mikel has been very solid in the middle. Oscar and Willian's link play has been pretty good, although those rejoicing in the absence of Fabregas might do well to ask themselves why our final ball has been so poor.

 

Worrying to see Diego go off so early, although he still looked reasonably mobile so hopefully it was just a precaution (or a bruised rib or something). I was concerned that Rémy might get bullied off the ball by Stoke's centre backs but his holdup play hasn't been too bad so far. I would have thought José would have opted for Falcao as Costa's replacement but seemingly he's not on the bench; is he injured?

 

Very encouraging half, hope to see more of that as another half of that level of superiority should see us into the next round.

Baba has been good but I would be tempted to bring him off 60/70 mins as he's on a yellow n
