Yeah easy choice with the 53/86 but must admit to liking the 05 onwards one better than the 80's 90's one

86-2005 for me since that is my era.

This is the iconic crest for me.

Depends, I don't think the 53/86 one would be good for marketing purposes because many young supporters will prefer a 'modern' crest on their merchandise, but when it comes to decorating our new stadium the 53/86 one might be good in some areas, e.g. next to the evergreens that will be placed around the stadium or under statues of legendary players that will hopefully be built.

 

Therefore there is no clear cut winner for me.

Yeah, something screams very interim about that - the Avram Grant/FSW of CFC crests.

Considering how similar the current and the 53/86 crest are, I don't think there's much difference. As for kids preferring a more modern crest? I couldn't care less. When a club's been there for over a century, it doesn't have to bow down to the "social" media generation. Tradition has to mean something.

Sounds like you're fishing for a few 'likes'... very much like that social media generation ;)

 

It's not just kids, you know. A classic crest like 53/86 would look awkward on a modern day kit, it wouldn't fit the modern cobham training centre, the players wouldn't like it etc.

I have no need for fishing for "likes". It's not how I roll. I actually have always preferred the 53-86 crest, although I was first introduced to the world of Chelsea during the Bates era.

 

As for the old crest not "fitting" the modern day kit and Cobham, I'd say that's rubbish. It's a great design and the people in charge of the new stadium seem to think so as they're using parts of the old crest to decorate the new stadium (in the designs). The new one is a pretty good compromise, mind you.

They do use it for the crozier as per the planning application, but do they use the whole crest anywhere? I didn't see it anywhere, which I thought was a shame.

 

The pillars will be embossed with the new crest as far as I could see.

I like them all except for 1952-1953.

 

I voted 1953-1986 because it was the logo I grew up with plus it was a classy logo for its time and it still looks great today.

Went for the current badge. I suspect most people will pick the badge that Chelsea had when they first started following the blues.
