Looking at the replays doesn't help Courtois there, he starts by jogging off his line. If he runs at full pace, he get's to that ball easily.

Mikel has done his duties perfectly well.

 

Well we're getting caught nearly every time on the counter attack where he's supposed to be cutting it out. So no, he isn't doing his job. I don't just blame him though we are utter rubbish all over the place, sick of Willian and Oscar pausing before they actually doing anything with the ball, Hazard has been anonymous again and our defending has been shoddy at best. Predictable dog sh*t all round.

Yeah, Baba made a mistake. How many mistakes did Ivanovic, Fabregas, Cahill, Matic make and we lost our games because of that? Give this lad a confidence, it's just matter of time. We don't have players in the central, all Southampton's attacks come from there. Hazard, Willian and Oscar aren't helping enough to the defence.

They all the time attacked down the flanks. They don´t play through the middle.

Need to stop f**king around, trying to score the perfect goal and put in some crosses and have some shots. It's so boring to watch us pass, pass, pass, pass, lose the ball.

 

to be fair Southampton are well organised at the back and just drop off once we get into their half - we've struggled against defences like this for years. my only hope here is that we usually give it a bit more once we do go behind - I think there is a goal in this game for us 

Can someone explain what is Mikel doing on the pitch? On other side, I do feel Romeu and Clasie who do their job and win tackles and keeping the central on their hands.

Long's touch was enough for Courtois to get onto it. Courtois positioning was fine, but his reactions wasn't, if he races off his line he get's to that ball.

It was terrible defending from Rahman. Really casual and naive. Not much Courtois could do given it was set on a plate for Long.

 

I hope that isn't the game right there...

Dont agree if tibo sprints straight away he gets to that in front of long replay not good for him.

He can't stop every counter by himself, as you say others have been poor as well. I do feel though that's he's won tackles and made interceptions in the majority of instances where it was possible for him to do so.

Bertrand must be wondering why he was sold off when Baba is now playing in his position.

Southampton have been really solid but it flatters them to be ahead at half time. We miss Pedro's pace and movement; our other AMs seem content to dither around the perimeter of the 18 yard box. Hope to see Kenedy come on at some point.

Baba Rahman is subbed after 1 mistake, the more experience players get to keep their place after making many mistakes throughout the season...........where is the consistency?

 

The younger players will never gain any confidence at this club if we continue to do this.

Kennedy needed to come on for the invisible hazard. He is not a left back at all. Why weaken our defensive prowess????

Why do we play Kenedy out of position
