July 31, 20178 yr I honestly don't think he will last the season not because he will get sacked but because he looks a lot more tired and annoyed so far just like the Jose season

He has talked about trying to calm it down though

July 31, 20178 yr He's clearly incredibly annoyed and you can't excactly blame him. It looks like he'll have about 11 outfield players with proper first-team experience available for the season opener against Arsenal in six days. It's actually stunning how poor that is. And it's not like we have this incredible list of players out with injury or suspensions. Just three injured and one suspended and we give our manager 11 players to work with. Fantastic.

July 31, 20178 yr I think we will sign 2-3 players. We'll go for our 3rd to 4th choices as that is what left in the market.

I've avoided being negative over this transfer saying we've plenty of time and business will get done but we are seriously running out of time now. Our season starts in a week and we're still so so short. If we've spent another summer chasing an unattainable player (Sandro) the board needs a shake up because it's happened too often in recent times. As for being left with our 3/4th options, I don't care if this sounds spoiled but that's absolutely embarrassing if that's the case. We are now one of the biggest/richest/successful (in recent times) clubs in the world. We shouldn't be settling for Hectors or Djiloboji's. Like others, I fear Conte won't see out the season, he comes across extremely frustrated and annoyed with our activity in the transfer market, just like Jose a couple of seasons ago. It's a concern when two top managers are pointing to our failings in the market, that has to tell us something.
July 31, 20178 yr So i understand Conte's frustration, but does he really expect a complete overhaul of the squad in just one transfer period? He has rid himself of a 20 league goal scorer, cleaned house in the midfield, signed (what I truly believe is) his first choice striker; midfielder; and defender, etc. We have spent 120m (?) on his players and gotten rid of the ones he doesn't want. These things take time it's not good business to just run around and buy up all players at inflated prices. Man City looking pretty signing 3 fullbacks and a plethora of attacking talent to go with their already attacking squad...but they have paid for it dearly and will continue to pay for it over the course of the season. That type of business is just not sustainable. I understand Conte is frustrated but we also have our two most creative players out with injury so seeing us struggle against top class teams in preseason is not a surprise to me, and it shouldn't be to Conte either. With Matic gone I am sure we have one midfield player ready to sign (be it loan, or contract player) and probably another on the way. We will have to look at our 3rd or 4th choice wb to act as competition for Alonso/Moses, but that business will be done too I am sure. It's a process you can't just let go of all Mourinho's players and expect to get all your players in and functioning highly within a couple weeks. If we get to Sep 1 and our squad is unchanged, well then yes Conte should be absolutely pissed off and probably not make it through the year. I doubt very much that it will come to that though. Conte would not have signed the new contract had he not been given some assurances, one of which was certainly Morata.
July 31, 20178 yr A lot of media noise, which we shouldnt pay much attention to. Conte is just leveraging to get what he needs, maybe he thinks he needs to go through the media to get that done. Not ideal, but pre-season is not to be paid attention to, that much.
July 31, 20178 yr peoples expect too much. all clubs are run like a business, and first and foremost we're looking to make profit and not overspend. it doesn't mean we can't buy quality, but we gotta be smarter about it, especially now with a stadium to build. let other clubs pay out huge wages and fees for players, but it doesn't mean they will be any more successful. I get what you're trying to say but a well run business wouldn't sell off a large part of its assets and leave itself running with a skeleton crew. We've got time in the window to bring more in but it's far from ideal that the season will be well underway by that point. We have four competition we're expected to compete for as a club but a squad of senior players about 13/14 strong. I don't mind if we give the youth a chance this year to be the squad players. However, I don't want it to mean Contes head by Christmas which it usually does if we're not performing under managers.

Actually, it's not a very precise analogy, but that is exactly what businesses are doing all time, cutting costs, and doing more with less people. Just look at the NHS or the police to see it in daily action.
July 31, 20178 yr Well that team should be good enough to compete. Man Utd have brought in 2/3 players this window (same as us), but apart from that they had the same squad they had last year and last year they finished 6th. We won the league with pretty much the same group of players we have now. I agree the squad needs reinforcements but from what i'm reading we are, it's just people being impatient. City are the only team who have done there deals a couple weeks early. We couldn't foresee Hazard getting injured, but apart from him our first team is still top quality. The bench is Caballero, Musonda, Baker, Batshuyai (I think), Fabregas/Bakayoko, Rudiger, Christensen. I don't see where the huge concern is coming from in all honesty. Sure wing backs need a bit more of an upgrade, but I read various forums and twitter people saying "We won't even make top four with this squad" and it's absolute illogical overreaction from fans. They've both definitely gone downward here in Scotland.

My concern is the fact that we're expected to challenge for the title and CL now we're back in it and I can't see in a million years how this squad can challenge the likes of Bayern and Madrid outside of a 2012-esque run or being very very lucky with injuries/suspensions. in relation to impatience, I think it's understandable when the season starts for us in less than a week, ideally you'd want your squad in place going in to the season bar maybe one to come in. I still think we'll make top 4 easily.

July 31, 20178 yr I think all the panic is because of all the last time we won the league, Look what happened the season after talk is doing the rounds. Not saying i am perfectly happy. But look at Arsenal and Spurs. They are so far off it is untrue. The Manager is doing well and will continue to do so. Nothing to worry about.
August 1, 20178 yr Let's not panic guys!Arguably we need another 2 or 3 players, and we've got another 4 weeks to get them.I'm sure this is not the final squad

August 1, 20178 yr Not a big difference to last summer's market at the moment when we only brought in Luiz, Kante and Alonso (and rediscovered Moses). Admittedly we need more cover for the CL campaign.
August 2, 20178 yr I guess it is only August 1st. I'll save my super panic-y post for the 25th or so. ALSO: What is the legit word on Contes hair? is it growing out of his scalp? is it glued on? to me, it looks like the greatest transplant job ever done in the history of hair transplants, but numerous others have told me its definitely a piece. SETTLE MY DEBATE!!!!!!

August 2, 20178 yr Transplant I think. Doesn't Rooney and Klopp have the same thing..? When you got money you can get a good one. Rooney must have saved most of the cash allotted for his for the oap brothel he was visiting later that day...
August 3, 20178 yr I know the biggest reason we're missing out on some players is our reluctance to spend more than what we deem reasonable, but I have to say, Antonio doesn't seem to have the pull the likes of Jose and Pep do. There are top players who do want to play for Mourinho and Guardiola. I'm yet to read about a star footballer who dreams of joining or re-uniting with Conte. I'm not talking about saying nice things about him, but rather that his name can be a decisive factor in a player's choice.
