Chelsea end long standing partnership with adidas

Seems a risky decision. Who knows who it might be. No idea why any company would offer that kind of money for us right now. And i hope we had someone lined up otherwise it is utter stupidity

i think it's Puma. they paid massively to sponsor le arse, so won't be surprising if they do it again with another team
i personally hope it's Nike because Puma's kit for le arse is simply ugly, though the one for Leicester is pretty neat

Nike kits.... dear God, no.

why? yes sometime they can be weird, but most of the time they bang their kits

see France, Holland, Roma, hell even City, and United back then was pretty good

Here's the biggest (per year):

  1. MANCHESTER UNITED Adidas £75m 2015-2025
  2. BAYERN MUNICH Adidas £42.5m 2015-2030
  3. REAL MADRID Adidas £34m 2012-2020
  4. CHELSEA FC Adidas £30m 2013-2023
  5. ARSENAL Puma £30m 2014-2019
  6. FC BARCELONA Nike £28m 2008-2018
  7. LIVERPOOL Warrior £25m 2012-2018
  8. JUVENTUS (New) Adidas £20m 2016-2022
  9. AC MILAN Adidas £19 m 2013-2023
  10. PSG Nike £19m 2013-2022
  11. MANCHESTER CITY Nike £15 m 2013-2019

Will Nike really pay us more than Barcelona?  More than twice as much as City? Sceptical.

If they're willing to mess with Barca's vertical stripes than they're prepared to foist any monstrosity on us, imo. Also, no more cool Adidas Originals Chelsea gear coming out.

Surprised that Addidas would let us terminate early. What's in it for them?

Nike are ok but I don't like Puma kits. The Arsenal players look ridiculous in their extra small shirts. Warrior also make horrible kits - see Liverpool.

It's a mutual agreement, so reading between the lines we get a nice pay day (from Nike etc), and it works out for Adidas in so far they're looking to "partner with fewer teams" (given they have a new CEO perhaps they're looking to reduce costs). I'm not reading too much into the report that we're "paying them off' personally, saying that is just a way for Adidas to "declare profit forecasts" when all they're doing in reality is declaring how much they'll save.

I am mostly on this forum, but I sometimes go on Talk Chelsea. Talk Chelsea is undeniably a worse forum than this one but there are some benefits.

There is a guy on Talk Chelsea called We Hate Scouse, this person knows someone at the club. We Hate Scouse announced the new shirt deal weeks before it was announced by the club. Mid last month We Hate Scouse announced

There's been Nike and another well known brand pitching to the board. Unless Adidas offer us big money they'll be gone unfortunately

Turns out We Hate Scouse was right again.

Umbro were always my favourite but it doesn't really bother me.

Gola could make our kits for all I care so long as we get more £ than the last one. If it has the Chelsea badge on it then it will sell regardless

Clearly Chelsea have been pissed off ever since they were shortchanged a year after signing 10-year deal worth £300m that they then gave Utd £750m...we wouldn't dump them if we didn;t have something else lined up..good to see

I really hope we don't go to Nike. I didn't like anything they did for Man U or Gooners. Nothing to do with the colour!! Just their styling and quality.

Yeah - Nike jerseys always look, i dunno - too flashy?  They look too much like Nike Jerseys than the team they're threaded into.  Same could definitely said about Adidas because of the three stripe- but I like Adidas jersey's - especially what they do with national  teams.

Maybe I missed it so will we be wearing Adidas next year or does the deal end immediately?

They've already designed next season's kit so we have them for 1 more year, then a new kit sponsor. We will be wearing the new adidas kit against leicester in our final game

Apparently we want Nike but they're just about to agree a deal with Spurs so maybe not.

Even heard Japanese firm Uniqlo are interested or Chinese firm Li Ning. Although I doubt such an unknown brand would pay us £50 mil per year that we want.

All the talk seems to be about the club being pissed that Utd are getting more money and attention from Adidas.

So, "Apparently" we've finished our deal with Adidas without securing a new one...

Sorry fella but that is extremely unlikely, if not totally ludicrous.

Current season's kit was actually very good, especially compared to this sh :/

I agree but next season looks like we wanted something a bit different but just went for odd instead.

???

Is that a Bukta?

Either way, no not that.

Bukta are an old school sports manufacturers, in the same ilk as say Gola, they made some kits in the 70's when it was that horrible scratchy material.

A flying bird (possibly a Gull) was the motif.
