May 17, 201610 yr We'll make up the compensation we had to pay to cancel the deal with Adidas in 1 year. It was definitely worth pulling out. It wouldn't surprise me if Nike has agreed to pay the compensation
May 17, 201610 yr See!!!!! The club is not perfect but I wouldn't change our board for any other. Fantastic

May 18, 201610 yr Brilliant deal, news and a very positive vibe to begin the season with. Hope we reinvest and reinvest it very wisely. Ktbffh
May 18, 201610 yr 600m for 10 years coming our way. Thats like 12 Torres's God No! Either sign a rolling contract if that is possible or max it at 5yrs. Come renewal time Madrid, Barca will get bigger deals also, won't be surprised if in 5yrs time £100m per season become the norm.
May 18, 201610 yr God No! Either sign a rolling contract if that is possible or max it at 5yrs. Come renewal time Madrid, Barca will get bigger deals also, won't be surprised if in 5yrs time £100m per season become the norm. Which is a valid argument if we didnt just finish the season in 10th. Time for everyone to start realising this moment isn't the time to start caring about what other teams do, we need to get back into being worth that amount sharpish.
May 18, 201610 yr I guess Purslow is really earning his pay. First Yokohama and now, this. Although apparently it was Marina who brokered the Nike deal. In any case, well done. Edited May 18, 201610 yr by abramovich
May 18, 201610 yr While the money is impressive and I'm glad the board has done something positive in a while, personally disappointed it's Nike. Purely from a visual standpoint I haven't really seen a Nike kit that I've properly liked. Was hoping either Reebok or Under Armour would be the case but I'll be hoping Nike can pull something positive off. I do agree with Ducavis that 10 years is a lot considering the new TV rights deal, in 3-5 years this deal might be middle of the pack and although we're not currently in a position to pick whatever we want some long-term thinking would've been comforting. Even a 5+5 with an opt-out would've been great but for now the club has done good. Now if they'd put Emenalo on the next plane to Nigeria I'd really start celebrating.
May 18, 201610 yr Great deal, surprised at the negativity (though I really shouldn't be) as no one knows the full details yet, there very well may be cut off points and ways out, even staged rises and trophy bonuses etc.
May 18, 201610 yr I personally won't believe it til it is confirmed by either the club or nike I've been hurt before :( Even a 5+5 with an opt-out would've been great but for now the club has done good. Its a weird one, don't think that would suit either party. If we stay crap it suits nike and if we dont it suits us. End of the day though we have precedent for buying out contracts now. But a lot hinges on how long it takes us to bounce back Edited May 18, 201610 yr by Stim
May 18, 201610 yr I agree at this point it's a fantastic solution. My main concern as I said is with the visuals, that's purely up to Nike to impress me.
May 18, 201610 yr Great deal especially given our recent finishing position. No doubt Madrid will absolutely blow us out of the water, but 60M is not to be sniffed at!
May 18, 201610 yr I actually like nike sports clothing so this is good. Be interesting to see what kit designs they come up with for us. Please make them good, and design a yellow one please.
May 18, 201610 yr Second biggest kit deal in football..You'd be pushed (even with Chelsea specs on) to say we are the second biggest club in the world !!So... Well done the club
May 18, 201610 yr I don't buy kits so don't really care if it looks great or not. The important thing here is the money they're giving us, no wonder we bought out that adidas deal.
May 18, 201610 yr I assume next year's kit which we wore on the last game was Addidas? Is that the last one, and Nike will take over for 17/18?

May 18, 201610 yr Nike are decent tbh. I mean Adidas haven't exactly been full of ambitious kit designs themselves. The yellow one a year ago being the one that stands out. At least we wont have to have the 3 stripes somewhere now. Looks daft on the new shirt
May 18, 201610 yr My fave Adidas kits were: Home 2006/07 Away 2008-09 (Yellow) Edited May 18, 201610 yr by Bobbywoodhogan
