Hodgson needed to be replaced, but I'm not sure he deserves as much blame as he's getting. I'm not sure changing his tactics or formation would have carried this team to the late stages of this tournament.

The problems run much deeper than tactics or lineup. Things weren't great before him, and I think people who are laying this all on Hodgson are in for an unpleasant surprise.

I think if Hodgson had stuck to the tactics and formation we played in the friendlies and qualifiers, we would have got to the Quarter Finals at least and played some nice football on the way, and that would have been enough for me. Hodgson ditched all of that though and we ended up going back to slow football with long balls over the top, that was all on Hodgson, he deserves as much criticism as he get's.

Post match Rooney interview:

Interviewer > "Wayne is this your lowest point in your England career"

-----uncomfortable pause whilst his brain engages and struggles to decide--------

Everyone was dog sh*t. Smalling, despite being sloppy for that second goal, was ok. Sturridge was bad because he was trying to cross with his right foot - something I'd give him credit for if anything cause he's clearly uncomfortable with it but tried. First time he puts in a left foot cross in the 93rd minute we went close.

Odd watching our players unable to string two passes together. The pressure definitely got to them in the second half.

Kyle Walker/Lallana and Rashford are the only players who come out this tournament with their reputations intact.

Did you not see kyle Walker tonight?

Did you not see kyle Walker tonight?

Yeah i saw him tonight, The only player willing to take on a man, The only defender putting himself all over the pitch and the only player who could actually control the  ball without allowing it to get away from him, A solid 6/7 for him tonight.

A lot of people are saying Hoddle again.......jeez. Do people forget when he last managed a football team ? it was 10 years ago in the Championship.

I've said this before, but Hoddle's reputation as a manager/coach has sky rocketed since he stopped actually managing/coaching. His record is average at best and even his contribution to Chelsea is overrated IMO.

Getting into the referendum spirit, I've just started a petition to get this match replayed. It already has 4 million signatures.

We could replay that ten times and still not win :-)

The equalize was on him.

Hits of Algeria 2010. How can you go through a qualifying group undefeated and have numerous friendlies yet have no idea which players are your best of how you want to play? I mean Capello was bad but at least he had a vision. It was a dire dull vision, but it was at least a plan.

Sven's reputation gets better with every manager lol!

Fair enough, I saw it differently, totally at fault for the first goal, forgetting that as a defender you're meant to go with your runner. Constantly moving inside when we needed width. Can't deny that he likes to run with the ball though.

Before tonight I thought he'd had a good tournament.

Have to say I don't think Vardy is an England player.

Sounds harsh but he's a one trick pony and is suited to the Leicester system with the players they have.

England try and use him when desperate and he looks like a fish out of water with no space to exploit behind the back 4.

Well having slept on it I thought I may have calmed down but that was turgid uninspiring horse crap and it didn't really surprise me!

So much went wrong, when Roy decided he didn't need Dier even though I was thinking that we should drop to a back three and have Rose and Walker as wingers essentially with Sterling behind Sturridge and Kane. But okay bringing the defensive midfielder off is showing ambition but to bring Wilshere on who gives exactly what Rooney gives is shocking get a midfielder on who offers something else!

I know Sterling was abit of a headless chicken but Kane should have gone off before him and bringing on a striker who thrives on service when we had no one giving that was naive at best. I don't understand why Lallana was dropped when he seemed to be one of our better players.

Rashford looked bright when he came on it was just too late and how Barkley never got a minute is beyond me he would at least have ran at Iceland rather than get the ball freeze panic and boot it up field.

But the thing that really irks me is it just isn't surprising it was just more of the same old England and it was woeful. I don't know what match preparation they did it didn't look like they had ever seen eachother before let alone played together.

Said it before the tournament, Roy's big mistake was shoe-horning Rooney into the team where he didn't fit and the side clearly looked better without him. Rooney is NOT world class any more and looks distinctly average and way off the pace and he is no leader. Where was he last night when we were 2-1 down and looking for inspiration? Huffing and puffing and constantly miss-placing passes. Until Rashford came on ridiculously late, no-one wanted the ball. It was all - "here you have it - no you have it............." Players were hiding which at this level is inexcusable and it took an 18 year old to have a go but way, way too late.

Sure the whole team looked void of ideas last night and that has to come down to Roy and his coaching team and at least they've done the decent thing and rightly gone.
