Reading on Twitter the rumours of a death are false. A French woman appears to have been injured but no word on the cause.

Seems that people fabricated the story then, typical.

Stan Collymore reporting live via periscope from the warzone, French Ultras from all over France travelled down, Russian fans from Switzeland drove down to avoid detection, Riot police, Tear gas, Smoke everywhere, Absolutely mental, ISIS will be sitting back, Smoking a cuban and popping open a bottle of wine at this, They've done all their work for them.

There are clearly some groups of organized hooligans involved from Russia at least. However It has to be acknowledged that a minority of England fans have been looking for trouble ever since they arrived in Marseille a couple of days ago. So apparently they got what they were looking for. Unfortunately it will no doubt be the fans who were just down for the football who end up getting beaten up as they find their way back from the game. I have a few a friends who are in Marseille and I hope they made it back to their hotels safely. Likewise good luck to any other fans who are down there right now.

I am not surprised this has happened at all. What the authorities thinking making this match the evening kick off, and scheduling in a place like Marseille where England fans already have history? Crazy!

A couple of thoughts:

- We were by far the better team and dominated the vast majority of the match. That really exceeded my expectations considering I was expecting a really cautious match but we really threw ourselves forward.

- Harry Kane was genuinely awful. The most impactful thing he did was win free kicks. He should also never take corners. Whose idea was that?

- I was hugely impressed by Walker and Rose considering I spent most of the pre-match at the pub claiming that they are both terrible.

- Alli should watch a load of Frank Lampard videos.

- Rooney and Dier were actually a pretty good midfield in a dominant scenario.

- I spent a lot of the post 1-0 time at the pub yelling "bring on James Milner" just to wind up the guy next to me. When Russia inevitably scored I said "well that just proves that we should have brought him on sooner."

It is the hypocrisy of the hooligans that irritates me, they will be cheering on Northern Ireland tomorrow because of the loyalist link yet, how will it work if someone like McGinn scores, he grew up in a republican stronghold.

Plus there is the hypocrisy of them hating the French and they probably have French players in their clubs

French police confirm locals kick off trouble in Nice last night. Seems the Northrrn Ireland and Poland fans aee getting along just fine. Thats good news, dont want trouble to spread and ruin what should be a great tournament.

Peter Taylor gave the England players ratings last night on the Sky Sports Website....including....

Raheem Sterling 8

'The Manchester City forward put in a terrific performance. He looked to go forward at every opportunity, putting in a tremendous shift over on the left flank.'

Really??

He did make a lot of good runs, albeit with no end product at the end of almost all of them. He does have searing pace though, and that is one of the attributes that hurts teams at the higher levels of football. As g3.7 said, his very presence on the pitch meant that we always had significant threat on the counter, necessitating the Russians to sit a bit deeper. When he got hooked for Milner, we sat back more and invited the Russians to come on to us, which they did, and for their goal we were really slow as a team to come out to the ball from the corner, so there was no pressure on the ball, and the cross came in and took everyone out (they were all pretty flat). Roy should have brought on Vardy for Sterling.

I was most disappointed with Kane last night. I read somewhere that he had ZERO touches in the box. That is frankly just hopeless when you are in the side as the main striker. Vardy and Sturridge would probably castrate themselves if they had zero touches in the penalty area in 93 minutes ...

They need to stop all this "Kane taking all corners and set pieces" nonsense as well.

Sterling reminds me of Sean Wright-Phillips .... He will give them something to think about and the occasional great goal but on the whole ineffective.

I think it is a good point that he made the Russians play deeper, however Vardy could have done that and probably would have sniffed out one of those chances

Just reading some of the papers about the violence. Looks horrendous, horrible scenes. English fans haven't got a chance against ultras and heavy handed police. Can Joe Hart was telling the fans to stay safe in the stadium.

Russia 2018 is going to be awful. Fans shouldn't be going there.

Have you actually watched some of the non media footage, the smart phone videos from the public ? If you had you would see plenty of England FANS being attacked by HOOLIGANS. You even said so^ yourself.

This is not hooligans v hooligans, these are attacks on the public by organised  criminals.

If it was up to me, Russia would kicked out of the euros

Stan Collymore, yes I know, has something on periscope. I have no clue about non sub periscopes, but apparently it's terrifying.

If someone can access it, please do tell.

That would be pointless as England and France would also need to be kicked out, The Russians are c-unts of the highest order but they aren't alone in this.
