Sweden's conservatism exposed the Italians lack of creative quality today. They were very sloppy additionally so even the worked patterns weren't coming off. Also thought it was interesting that by playing long to two big forwards it kept Italy in a defensive shape (5 defenders rather than 4 forwards) for much of the game and that is something content will need to deal with more in England.

I hate this Swedish team yet I really hope they go far in the tournament.

Always been a big fan of him for England and wanted him at the tip of a diamond, but he deserves to be dropped. God knows what's happened to him recently. He'll bounce back in future but needs to be dropped for now. I'd go with a diamond with Sturridge + Vardy and probably Lallana at the tip.

In hindsight, he was playing regularly and developing at LFC. He saw the £ sign and went to City where he's been under a different sort of pressure, hasn't played every game, and his development seems stalled. I hope he turns it around but, at the moment, he's going backwards. I wonder whether Pep can help?

who knows, maybe England can get to the quarter final or the semi final, based on what I've seen so far, unless of coarse the Spanish and Germans step it up. So far I think the French look the most likely, but Italy have to have an outside chance, based on that defence, with teams struggling to break others down.
