June 16, 201610 yr Milik could finish that for Poland, didn't really enjoy from the game but watching Poland's defence was very enjoyable.
June 16, 201610 yr Yeah, what's with all these boring games. I fear that in the knockout rounds the teams will get more cautious which will be even more boring. Those who have watched the Copa America have been treated to some excellent games full of attack, great goals, and great saves. That may change as well in the knockout rounds. I expect Mexico vs Chile on Saturday will be good, and I expect all the quarterfinals to be at least okay other than maybe the one tonight (USA vs Ecuador). What's amazed me has been the lack of goals, there hasn't been a higher win margin than 2 goals in a game. That's pretty amazing. I am finding it hard to get into this Euro's in all honesty.
June 16, 201610 yr Well done Northern Ireland. First win in a major tournament since beating Spain 1-0 in the 1982 World Cup.
June 16, 201610 yr UK teams. If England beat Slovakia, and Wales at least draw against Russia, then Northern Ireland will almost certainly qualify in 3rd place, as long as Germany don't beat them by more goals than England beat Slovakia. Eng 3 Slovakia 1 Wales 1 Russia 1 Germany 2 N.I 1 It could possibly mean Eng v N.I in next round.
June 16, 201610 yr First time EVER England have come back losing to win a game in ANY major competition. I'm surprised no-one reminded you of a certain game at Wembley in 1966 before you corrected yourself. Though I suppose it was so low-key everyone forgot about it straight away and certainly wouldn't mention it or remember it 50 years later.
June 17, 201610 yr Surely Sterling will be out of the starting eleven now? Great result yesterday but Sterling is doing literally nothing.
June 17, 201610 yr Not sure if this will work. England fans go mad at Sturridge's goal. http://video.dailymail.co.uk/video/mol/2016/06/16/191687882405661596/640x360_191687882405661596.mp4
June 17, 201610 yr With all the talk about who should or shouldn't take corners, I found this very interesting. It's consistent with what I've thought for a while, that corners are very overrated. They rarely result in goals and leave you vulnerable to counterattacks. The controversy about Kane taking corners is overblown because it's highly unlikely that he would have scored if someone else were taking them. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fancy-stats/wp/2015/05/02/the-value-of-a-corner-kick-in-soccer/
June 17, 201610 yr Weird tournament so far. Don't feel like any of the favourites have laid down any marker as they only narrowly beat teams they are expected to with 2-0 wins usually having the last goal in the dying minutes
June 17, 201610 yr Surely Sterling will be out of the starting eleven now? Great result yesterday but Sterling is doing literally nothing. Always been a big fan of him for England and wanted him at the tip of a diamond, but he deserves to be dropped. God knows what's happened to him recently. He'll bounce back in future but needs to be dropped for now. I'd go with a diamond with Sturridge + Vardy and probably Lallana at the tip. Weird tournament so far. Don't feel like any of the favourites have laid down any marker as they only narrowly beat teams they are expected to with 2-0 wins usually having the last goal in the dying minutes Italy have impressed me most. Germany and Spain feel like they're playing in first gear. Portugal feel disjointed though they move the ball quickly. Belgium an incoherent mess.
June 17, 201610 yr Still buzzing after yesterday's win. That'll teach that performing monkey Bale to keep his f**king mouth shut pre-game. Tosser
June 17, 201610 yr Weird tournament so far. Don't feel like any of the favourites have laid down any marker as they only narrowly beat teams they are expected to with 2-0 wins usually having the last goal in the dying minutes I think there is quite a lot of nerves out there but the cream will come to the top it always does. The finalists generally start off slow and occasionally a lesser team does well Despite last nights result, Germany look good to me. You never see them really panic, they pass and move there is always someone to pass to.they make it look easy and of course they are unbelievably organised. France and Belgium can only improve Italy looked good be interesting to see how far they get. And dare I say it, England to me are looking okay, they just got to play with a little less fear and keep their heads in the final third.
June 17, 201610 yr Quite looking forward to seeing the "gaffer" send Sweden out of the Euros this afternoon... :)

Though I suppose it was so low-key everyone forgot about it straight away and certainly wouldn't mention it or remember it 50 years later. Officially the WC final in 66 was a draw and needed extra time to decide it, so I think it doesn't count as a win as such.

June 17, 201610 yr Officially the WC final in 66 was a draw and needed extra time to decide it, so I think it doesn't count as a win as such. Nitpicking!
June 17, 201610 yr I'm watching it on my second screen at work - it's been fairly dull, not much invention from either side at all.
June 17, 201610 yr Wow, Ibrahimovic somehow managed to miss an open goal from about two yards out, despite being offside anyway.
