Jose Mourinho thread

Featured Replies

I've been reading but until this I haven't found the need to post. How good do you think he is? I was under the impression we all think he's the best manager in the club's history and probably the best in the world atm. Hard to be better than that

Be careful with words like that, because jokers like kiwi and konokai blue will tell you that when judging Jose, you must look at his last 3 months at the club ONLY. But at the same time, you also need to forget that we topped the CL group under him during those 3 months.

I don't think he's the best in the world because of his pragmatic style..  The best one for me is someone who controls the game with attacking football and of course win..

You care to name anyone with that? That's a pretty vague choice of words. If I remember correctly, the year Jose won La Liga Madrid were top of the league in goals scored.

Good lord, take it easy tiger. I was not telling you and/or others to get over it, I was encouraging you to after being asked what I thought of a presumed Mourinho quote. There is a difference.

Still, if you want to keep on rehashing things, without anybody knowing exactly what happened, by all means do.

Oh V thread carefully, lest you would be accused of "condescension".

As much as I love TSO  we are playing much better now that he's gone. This squad just wouldn't play for him.

Conte will last one season

Good lord, I haven't said Jose is a rubbish manager. He's the greatest in our history and one of the best around but he had to get sacks. My high regard for him as a manager is why I think to some extent he intentionally got this squad into major bother.

How can anyone say we told him to f#ck off and that he wanted to stay long term when he decided to turn enemy and war with our medical staff and subsequently players for his own foolish reasons?

You can keep banging on how he won the league with us but Jose was clearly not a happy man from game 1 and his actions didn't suggest he wanted to stay here long term.

As great as he is and regardless of transfer budget, he threw his dummy out. The greatest long term managers don't drag champions to relegation fodder in 3 months. There are no excuses for him why we had a court case against us and 16 ts after 16 games.

He thought he was bigger than the club and many fans put him on a pedestal as if he really is.

He sabotaged our season because he's a busted flush who didn't have it in him to make us challenge for the title again. His tried and tested methods are bringing about success in ever decreasing circles and he'd already exhausted all his tricks. His back was against the wall, so he as good as tried to set fire to the place to claim on the insurance.

Just as well we've got half a season to febreze his foul stench out of the place. The only mistake we made was to not sack the sh*tbag sooner.

Wow,

The above was a bit strong.

Bare in mind Jose won us three titles and well as various cups.

We are notmuch better of than where we were when he was sacked.

We have now got to do this all again with a new manager that will end up with the sack.

Where were you when we were sh*t, then you had the right to moan.

Its just one poor season.

We will be back , shame ots not with jose but lets move on.

Only one bad smell round here and it's your breath, it seems your mouth is too close to your arse.

you want me to name names? isn't that obvious already? what do you make of pep guardiola?

As for he got over 100 goals scored with real madrid in laliga, that doesn't do enough justice to cover his trademark style.. if you think for a team like real madrid to run rampage in a league like laliga is somekind of an amazing feat then please continue to be in awe mode while I do a facepalm.. He always prepared his team to be a counter attacking team against teams around the level of his team.. It's a tactic relying on the gap left behind by the opposition, you like it?  I don't.. you're high on that? I'm not and it's as simple as that..

I will only recognize Pep after this season. Even this season, he is a shoe in to win because of the massive backing he will have. But the PL is tougher than the other leagues he has been in. He is a good coach but that is what sides like Barca and Bayern, who run mostly on autopilot need with such little competition in the league. The PL will be his toughest test and if he comes through consistently (I say consistent because even Pellegrini has won titles with that squad), then credit to him.

Names pep then slates mourinho for scoring loads of goals in la liga...oh dear.

You're not asking a lot are you.

For a manager who is lauded as the best coach in the world and with the wealthiest side in the PL, no.

Don't necessarily disagree, just think dismissing his achievements with Barca (mainly) and Bayern is a bit much.

I am not. I am not saying he is not a good coach. He is one of the world class coaches around. But for him to be considered the best coach and the second coming coming of Jesus as some fans consider, he has to prove it with a challenge. I actually respect him a little more now to leave his cushy job at Munich and fight it out in the PL.

I'm confused at how people still believe this.

When Jose left, we were a point above relegation. We had recently lost to Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. Let me repeat: We were in a relegation battle and recently lost at home to a newly promoted team itself fighting relegation.

To keep Jose was too big a risk. Relegation would have taken years to rebuild because none of the players had relegation clauses so we'd have to sell them probably for a bargain price.

We are now on track for a secure mid table finish and have had a decent FA Cup run no matter what happens at Everton.

We are not playing brilliantly, but we are playing respectably by overall league standards. (Mid table is by definition average, and being average is respectable.) Before we were playing poorly by promotion team standards let alone by overall league standards.

Jose was hurting the club with his statements, upsetting the backroom staff without whom the club could not function, setting a poor example for his players (when you publicly humiliate a staff member and work to get them fired, don't complain if others get the message that it's an okay thing to do), and it got worse every week.

The next manager will inherit a dressing room of players who are communicating with each other and are supportive of each other (look at how genuinely happy they have been for Eden on the rare times he has scored). That atmosphere may well make the difference between them staying and leaving. Surely at least some of them will consider whether missing Champions League for one season merits a move to a club with a notoriously dysfunctional atmosphere, such as a certain high paying club in Spain.

I daresay Chelsea is now downright likeable. Players are plucky and display a never give up till the whistle blows attitude. Manager always acts diplomatically and positively in public, in stark contrast to some of his counterparts. Club is taking the FA Cup seriously.

From an objective perspective there is no question about whether the club is better off compared to mid December.

The players have rediscovered their love of the game. Roman isn't worrying about the repercussions of relegation. The staff doesn't worry about being publicly humiliated.

Assuming Man United happens, even Jose is better off. He will have a fresh start and inherit a dressing room of players who at the least will think he's an improvement over the previous manager.

Of course the club are taking the fa cup seriously. But even if Chelsea get knocked out by Everton Chelsea have had a good cup run is laughable.

Most of your points are correct but I hear a lot about if Mourinhos objective was to avoid relegation then he would play Matic and Mikel, not make many subs and play for draws. I'm sure Mourinho wouldn't get relegated either. Mourinhos and Hiddinks objectives were different even till Moutinho go sacked.
