March 12, 201610 yr Talking of being 'backed' he chose to sign a 33 year old Eto over a young potential star in Lukaku.
March 12, 201610 yr Talking of being 'backed' he chose to sign a 33 year old Eto over a young potential star in Lukaku. And then said Eto was 75 or something lol. Pure class. Not.
March 12, 201610 yr Just gonna smash random things together and package it as criticism. Didn't sign Pogba when he left United on a free, instead went for him much later.
March 12, 201610 yr I just know it's all Mourinhos fault. Mourinho still had a PL winning team. When Hiddink loses with the same squad it's still Mourinhos fault. If we lose in 10 years time to a Traore goal it's all Mourinhos fault.
March 12, 201610 yr The thing is, Jose is just an employee too. He isn't the man at the top so if you're saying that 'bad management' is the cause of underperformance shouldn't we look a bit more holistically? I'll email Roman and ask him to resign if that helps ? As far as Bad Management goes, I recall Club messages of support for JM from above, rather than public floggings like our medical team got, or words like betrayal etc etc - it's all perspective I guess. Hiddink has done better than JM by a country mile in the league, but I am hugely disappointed in our limp cup exits this week, and how he set up the team, subs etc. Let's hope Conte has some magic fairy dust, assuming it is him that is coming in.

Glad you're coming round to the right side of the fence now LOL. Met another two Chelsea fans today who'd jacked in their season tickets at the beginning of this season because football under JM was too turgid and too poor entertainment to justify the expenditure. This was his biggest problem for me .. we don't need 100% entertainment, but SOME would be nice ... Pogba and Lukaku seem quite similar situations with the benefit of hindsight. Both good enough to play at a young age. Both denied the opportunity in favour of journeymen.
March 12, 201610 yr And I wonder if he still doesn't rate Lukaku? He still doesn't rate Lukaku same way he will always pick Oscar over Mata.

March 12, 201610 yr Could always watch Aston Villa. Turgid football without the double trophy. Now there's a job JM could take to show us all how special he still is :-)

Not the worst idea. Roman needs to examine his own role in this debacle as much as anyone else. Maybe the next time he wants to support a coach he should avoid useless platitudes and stick to just five words - 'how much do you need'.
March 12, 201610 yr Lmfao. Even FM's board don't ask "how much do you need". Top five words there. Christ, my sides hurt badly. TheShedEnd is the place to be right now.
March 12, 201610 yr Yep For one reason or another(or maybe many others) Jose lost the playing group. To me thats the major reason he got sacked, why exactly we may never know. We'll know when JT publishes his book

I think its pretty reasonable for both sides to know that. That should be the first thing that comes up in the meeting, 'whats your plan to turn it around?'

The club has spent more that 283 million since Jose joined, but I guess we should all blame Roman, as he didn't spend 500 million, or a Billion.
March 13, 201610 yr The club has spent more that 283 million since Jose joined, but I guess we should all blame Roman, as he didn't spend 500 million, or a Billion. False stat. Big part of that moneyt has been spent on his side business of the loan farm. How many first team quality players have been bought since Fabregas and Costa. None.
March 13, 201610 yr False stat. Big part of that moneyt has been spent on his side business of the loan farm. How many first team quality players have been bought since Fabregas and Costa. None. Wrong, almost all of that number was for the senior team, a lot of the loan army purchase prices are not disclosed, so not in that number.
March 13, 201610 yr I think its pretty reasonable for both sides to know that. That should be the first thing that comes up in the meeting, 'whats your plan to turn it around?'From this I'm assuming you're projecting a scene similar to our season. Compared to other question, yours seems more logical.
March 13, 201610 yr The club has spent more that 283 million since Jose joined, but I guess we should all blame Roman, as he didn't spend 500 million, or a Billion. Also raised 233 million in player sales in that time frame too and that doesnt factor in key players being released on free's like Drogba, Lampard, Cole...... so out of pocket about 50million but if you count the wages off the books on those free's, we are probably looking at a close to break even picture in a time frame where a title was collected starting with a team who never came near it. Oh, 20million of this seasons 70million outlay has been on players who will likely never be in our first 11 for even a single full 90 minutes (Hector/Miazaga/Pantic/Dijeredo/Nathan) and another 18 million on a RB that neither manager this season rates as being first team quality.....so it might be for the senior team, but did it really make a difference to the senior team? Just figured you might like some context for those numbers. Fact remains that it was clear that this squad needed an overhaul before it lifted the title last season and not a single improvement was made to the squad in the off season. Of course Mourinho made mistakes but lets not forget that the turn around has not been due to a change of tactics or even a change of personnel, just the same players in the same positions magically playing better ,,,,almost like they just decided to try harder or something.... and considering Mourinho was given no players who could challenge the regulars in the first team, just what major changes were people expecting Mourinho to make between September and November? We've seen most of the kids, sure they have been better than some of the sh*t out senior players put out, but its pretty clear to us now what Mourinho knew then, they weren't going to save the season. The only people who were going to do that were the ones Mourinho foolishly stood behind.... you know, the ones who turned the season around by playing much better football under Hiddink than under Mourinho despite being set up in the same formation with the same tactics and surrounded by the same personnel..... What a funny game it is.
March 13, 201610 yr If anyone neutral non bias fan is reading people trying to defend Jose as if he's wenger running the squad on a small budget and selling his best players they will laugh their pants off at such a stupid excuse. Jose hhas been one of the highest spending managers since his return. The money made on player sales is somewhat irrelevant as he didn't even care to use those players. He's the one that forced lukaku out for eto, Mata out for Oscar, KDB also and surprisingly our board recouped good fees for them. But please don't be stupid enough to convince anyone that Roman didn't give Jose funds and control. You give him control and we end up like this.
March 13, 201610 yr Gave him control and he signed Fabregas and Costa and we won the league. Gave him nothing in the off season and... The money made on player sales is somewhat irrelevant Ofc you would think that.
March 13, 201610 yr If Mourinho is getting the credit for us winning trophies then by the same logic he must take the blame for our current situation. Yes the players downed tools and wouldn't play for him. So, in my opinion he was the root cause. When/if he goes to Manure it will be a slap in the face to those who think he's one of us.
March 13, 201610 yr If Mourinho is getting the credit for us winning trophies then by the same logic he must take the blame for our current situation. Tell that to the people who want him to take all of the blame and none of the credit. Edited March 13, 201610 yr by Stim

The bilge on this site just gets worse day by day....and usually from one the newbies: the above is a good example of that bilge. Leaving aside for one moment, the first paragraph (to which I'll return) we have the statement that Mourinho was one of the highest spending managers since his return which is course rather inaccurate on two fronts: first, it presupposes that Mourinho had unfettered control over transfers at the club which is, course, complete nonsense; secondly, the club, whilst Mourinho had tenure, was one of the lowest nett spenders compared to our main rivals during that tenure. Let's have a look at those nett spends for various clubs during that period shall we? Club 13/14 NettSp. 14/15 NettSp. 15/16 NettSp. Period Total NettSp. City -104.3 - 64.1 -136.3 -304.7 Utd - 76.1 -145.7 - 38.4 -260.2 Arse - 36.2 - 91.1 - 26.8 -154.1 Chels - 52.9 + 8.5 - 3.1 - 47.5 Pool - 22.9 - 52.4 - 29.5 -104.8 Everton + 14.3 - 38.2 - 36.8 - 60.7 Leicester N/A - 22.9 - 40.7 - 63.6 Newcastle + 22 - 21.4 -102.9 -102.3 Soton - 35.4 + 35.8 - 2.9 - 2.5 Albion - 4.3 - 22.6 - 30 - 56.9 Spam - 23.4 - 30.7 - 29.1 - 83.2 Spuds + 14 + 0.8 +16.5 + 31.3 Palace - 32.4 - 28.3 - 21.4 - 82.1 So...in consequence, the club was one of the lowest in nett spend terms during the period. The figures don't lie. As to your reference to Wenger...well, that's looking a bit silly isn't? Over that period the club had a nett spend of one third of Arsenal. Wonder what those neutral non-biased fans would say to that? Still laughing their pants off are they? Care to retract your idiotic statements now?
