Following Our Nearest & Dearest Rivals, 2016/2017

Such hard luck for Southampton, gave such a strong performance, definitely the better team on the day (even Jose admitted it!), the Saints deserved to win it really, but not to be -  just how it goes sometimes, but still a lot of credit to them, made it a great game to watch.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is quite a player though, really saved Manchester United there today considering the team was struggling so much in the match, and for him to still be scoring so often this season at the age 35 is impressive - would have been interesting if he had joined an English team some years earlier in his career and been a Premier League player back when he was in his 20's. I think Manchester United getting him on a free transfer last summer was important for them, and their season would have been going a lot worse if he had not joined them. (Still ranks behind our brilliant signing of N'golo Kante as the best transfer of last summer though, so glad we got him, just love that he's a Chelsea player!)

While Manchester United may have got the League Cup, with such a lacking performance it makes me even more confident for our match against them at The Bridge in the FA Cup next month - another chance for the boys in blue to give the red devils more nightmares like in our previous encounter back in October!

Fair play to big nose, I rate him in a weird way and wish he didn't play for them, Most reds say the same about Silva/Aguero etc so nothing wrong with that. When sky were interviewing him next to Pogba it hit me that Pogba should be owning the moment like Ibrahimovic was, Instead the free transfer is dominating the big stage for them, Pretty embarrassing stuff for Pogba who again was nowhere to be seen.

Southampton really unlucky today in many ways but that's Football sadly.

What's interesting about the game today for us is that Southampton had almost 2 weeks off whilst United had the Europa League game midweek. When we come to play them in the FA Cup we'll have had a week off whilst they will have had a tough trip to Russia on the preceding Thursday. Southampton didn't make their freshness and superior energy count early on - well, the linesman didn't allow them to - so we must ensure that we do. In the 2nd half especially our greater energy levels should bode well.

he didn't hit him hard enough. He's a whinging diving cnut that I would honestly like to see a proper old fashioned take everything tackle happen to.

Imagine the guy with the elbow was a Belgian dude with a head that looks like a microphone and the other dude was Hazard... would you still say the same?

Also a quick mention for Herrera - What a c**t. Always trying to get people sent off, always rolling around holding his face, always being petulant towards the referee. Needs a real elbow to the face, that will give him something to roll around about.

I've begun to notice this about him too. Good player but very Barcelona-esque personality on the pitch.

I've got no problem with Ibra, apart from fact he keeps scoring for Utd! Like his arrogance, like his banter and he is a quality striker...Jose apparently wanted to sign him for chelsea - would have been a big success for us too...but very short term and Utd have leaned heavily on a 35 year old to paper over the cracks this season

I've noticed that, horrible personality trait.

Can't stand anything about Man U. That bully c**t ibra needs his legs broken. His nose looks like a sail.  Hope Costa and out boys still have the hatred burning for the special prick and destroy them like we did last time. c**ts.

We were crap today. Only positive from this was the fact that we were clinical and were able to win despite being the worse team.

Sadly another poor decision from the ref will take it all away... what are your opinion on Romeu and his elbow on Herrera? Surely a second yellow... not saying two wrongs makes a right.

Reading back a few pages I see you don't mention that, but think Lingard and Herrera would've been sent off. Not getting the objective feeling here fellows... :indifferent0018:

Lol take a second and look around at where you're posting

He just scored a brace in a cup final and he's one of the most famous footballers in the world. What do you expect?

It's sickly and annoying. The media w**kfest will be unbearable. Luckily I don't listen or watch any of it. Can't wait for Chelsea to urinate on their f a cup hopes.

I want Liverpool to lose every game if I have my way, but for one night only I want them to thrash Leicester on their home turf. I want Leicester to go down, period.

What's with the schedule, why we are playing West Ham next Tuesday when there's nothing on ( I could be wrong) this weekend?

Haha I know... but as I wrote earlier, the reason I stay and keep posting at this forum is because I consider you to be quite objective. But I guess you're a bit biased from time to time just as the next person

It's Monday night.

I think that was always going to be a tough ask defensively for Southampton, after losing their front line central defenders Van Dijk to injury and Fonte in the January window.

Just a shame that referring decisions continue to blight the game ... in 2017 it is simply not on for video replays not to be used to get the key decisions right. Every other sport does this. You can only think that there is corruption at play and that there is a vested interest in certain parties being able to influence results.

A lucky win for Man United, outplayed on the day, but clinical when it mattered, and lucky also that most of their top rivals used the earlier rounds of the competition as practice matches for their youth and reserves rather than mount a serious challenge for the silverware on offer.

I think there's some truth to that but I think you have to take into account the amount of times Herrera has gotten off the hook and the amount of offside goals that have been given to you as well as onside goals which haven't been given against when you read those comments.

A bit like Barca, when you are a prominent team who regularly benefit from big decisions there's going to be backlash
