David Ornstein just wrote Mhkitaryan is key between Arsenal and United. A deal is not super close yet.

I say we offer them Pedro + cash or just Willian in a straight swap and see what they say. Looks like we might have a chance. Sanchez will be desperate to leave Arsenal so he could potentially agree to less in wages here than he'd get at Manchester United if they couldn't strike a deal.

Why would he take less wages?   Utd will collapse and give Wegner what he wants after he got screwed over in the Van Persie deal.....its a matter of when..not if he is going to Utd.........unless of course PSG come in a throw a boat load of money at him....anything is possible.

On paper it seems like good marriage,Luiz wants out (apparently) and Wegner needs a CB, however Wegner will want a similar player to Sanchez in return

Key here is striking a deal with Arsenal before ManUtd. If we do that we should be in the drivingseat again.
Especially if we can offer them a player they want.

My longing for Sanchez would be kinda couterbalanced by my love for Luiz

What's providing me a slight amount of hope:
1. Family prefers London
2. Jim White not confident deal with United will go through
3. Has good relationship with Conte and former Barca teammates like Pedro and Fabregas
4. Will be played in a more attacking system.
5. United's deal dependent on Miki going other way but that is rumoured to be stalling/falling through

Now this could all change obviously, but that's why I and a few others have a glimmer of hope. 

Yeah, dont buy world class player, buy young unproven piece of shiats like Crappayoko, with exactly 0 feats and strengths. We didn't buy also Ballack and Fabregas in their late 20s, we don't need winning, we are like Arsenal now, we need young and bad player, that eventually will turn into mediocre in years. 

I like the optimism.

I was just saying the other day I wish we would at least get a Robinho situation.  To be linked to anybody of quality for just a little excitement even if we don't actually sign them.

It would also be one massive statment to the likes of Hazard, Courtois, Conte AND everyone else that Chelsea mean business.

Fingers crossed that the board understands that as well. Who would blame them if the trio mentioned over started packing their bags of we signed Andy Carroll this january? I wouldn't.

I just cannot see us stumping up 350k+ in wages compared to United, though I don't see Wenger being keen to do a deal with Mourinho either, I still think, given the actions of our board lately, it's so unlikely we'll push it over the line

That's a fair point to argue, we have a delicate wage structure etc
And I agree with you, I'm 90% confident we won't sign him.
But stranger things have happened I might add.
Pedro was going to United for a while
Willian even had his medical at Spurs.
Mikel even put on a United shirt, went missing then returned a Chelsea player.
My point is, until the deal is done with an official announcement from either club, I'm not counting anything out.

We live in hope. I'd pay Sanchez whatever the hell he wants for 4 years, havinf him and Eden playing together would be a joy

anyone got talksport on? I ask because i looked on redcafe earlier and someone on there reckons talksport claim we are in the driving seat.

add to that the media had Lukaku a Chelsea player and then suddenly one night the papers say Mourinho wants to hijack it and within a few days its done.  Despite initially people laughed it off and said "He'll go to Chelsea, nothing in the Utd talk" including journos

Jim White is on TalkSport right now, I believe and has stated there is less than 10% chance of United signing Sanchez.

Can you cut out the name changing, it was slightly funny when you first used it, but now it's pathetic.

No agreement in place or close for Mkhitaryan to join Arsenal from Man Utd in Sanchez swap. He holds key & still mulling over #AFC / other clubs / staying #MUFC - if agrees to Arsenal, can happen quickly. Doesn’t see eye to eye with Mourinho but not desperate to go at all costs

Such a conflicting mixture of reports. I guess we’d know more by end of the day.

On a different football forum a lot of Man Utd fans are annoyed and reckon we’re front runners now for Sanchez’s signature.

I honestly cant see this dealing happening for Chelsea, would mean Hazard would want Sanchez type money and Courtois would probably command 200-250k also.

We should be after him but Id ont think we can afford him, the money in the game is insane at the moment and I dont think a 29 year old Sanchez is worth 350k a week, if we signed him from Barca at 25/26, then maybe but I cant see Chelsea blowing their load on him at his age.

The fact we're even interested is a step in the right direction.  I'm all for buying younger players with promise, but we need to be also looking at a massive name each year as well.  Sanchez is that name, and it would be a clear signal that we won't be left behind.  Now whether we even get to talk to him is another matter, but the fact we've made our interest known is only a good thing imo.
