Let's sell him to Man United ...  that would be hilarious !

The funny thing is they’d  probably go through with it :laugh2:

Nice compilation here. I watched most of Milan's games in December, and he sits very deep and plays a destroyer role. He's generally given as much space and time as Jorginho, but his role is to distrupt rather than to initiate the attacks.

He looks incredibly comfortable in this role, and the good new is, we're likely to get a full refund on the 40M or so we spent.

Have to say I like the cut of his jib in that position.

This is a transfer negotiation with Serie A club we're talking about. I'd be surprised if in the end we don't have to pay them another 40m in order to get Bakayoko off our wage bill.

I’m glad he’s doing better at Milan.

It really doesn’t matter how much money you earn, if you’re utterly crap and you get a lot of sh*t from fans for the performances, it’s bound to destroy you mentally. I dread to think how low Bakayoko must have felt last season.

I don’t want to see him back though. I’ll be happy if we get even just half of the money we paid for him

Once again, looking at that compilation, i am struck with how much space and time there is in Serie A. Most players from our league, if they are technically good enough, would look good in a league with that level of intensity.  There sems to be a growing number of players that look good in a number of the foreign leagues that cannot cope with the speed and competition of the Premier League. Morata seems a prime example as well.

This could explain why we play such slow football and lack intensity these days. Ancelotti, Conte, Sarri, 3 Italian coaches in the last decade who had only coached Italian teams before they joined us. I have often said that we look like a Serie A team. This is why so many Serie A players find it hard to adjust to Premier League football, it's too intense for them.

Didn't Ancelotti and Conte win the league on their first attempt, while Sarri has a better point total and league position than Pep, Klopp and Poch all managed in their debut seasons? You're making out like all these Italian coaches really struggled and were poor for us.

Watched the video, 95% is just Bakayoko recovering a loose ball or intercepting a pass.
The one big game he played well for us was against Liverpool where he did the same thing, defensive contribution. But he was supposed to also build up our play and possession and he was terrible at that, now we have Jorginho that does that part and it's far more valuable than this quality that Bakayoko is showing at AC Milan.

Spurs. Utd. Atletico.

Bakayoko ain't coming back

I comment on him simply to show that he's rehabilitating his reputation, which should mean a good chunk of change to reinvest back into the squad. We should be rooting hard for Milan to make Champions League. if they do, They're a shoe-in to pick up his full option at about 35M.

Either way, I think at WORST we'll be able to get 30 back for him.

Basically the games where all he was needed to do was defend and clean up, not think. Playing to his strengths.

I reckon £25m.

Gattuso was reputedly thinking about sending him back and it went quiet for a while and now we find they have found a role for him.

I wonder what happened to get him to play sufficiently well was it Gattuso or an assistant?

That was very early on... if you read through AC Milan, you'll see that they pretty much consider him their best player since October. If they offer 25M, Chelsea will either get a better offer, or they'll send him back out on loan. But I think he'll go for more than 25M.

That would be good.

So AC Milan might want him permanently, Higuain is owned by AC Milan out on loan to Juve, CFC allegedly want Higuain. Is there a deal in there somewhere (idk its not like for like but..) ?

Higuain is owned by Juventus.

But Milan still has the loan deal for the rest of the season, so Chelsea has had to negotiate with both clubs. And yes, part of that could be a discount for Bakayoko. Milan wasn't interested in a Morata swap.

You took what I said the wrong way and twisted my words. I'm not saying we were poor throughout, just that we played slower and lacked intensity under these managers many times throughout their time at the club, especially when confidence dropped a bit.

Spurs? That game when we were completely overrun from start to finish? United he couldn't stop giving the ball away, if we hadn't won that game he would've been a scapegoat.

The only impressive thing Bakayoko done during the United match was run past their midfielders a few times, other than that he was highly frustrating, like I said if we never got the 3 points I know for a fine fact he would've been the biggest target for being so reckless in the final 3rd.

Glad to see he is getting his life back at AC Milan. It sucks that it did not work out with us, he has the physical mold to be a great DM. Hopefully we recover the money splashed on him.

I think they both play different roles ( initiator Vs destroyer) although they are in the same position of the 4-3-3 - again this is what i read on the net so don't take my word for it.

You got it.

Bakayoko doesn't have a position on this team. He's an old fashioned stopper. But there's value there, so his sale will help reinforce the squad.

Should easily be 200M with player sales alone in the next 12 months. Like I've e said... Lots of turnover.
