Tiémoué Bakayoko

Give him time folks. He's eager as a beaver and will improve. Great engine that just needs time and tuning. I thought he was well covered by Drinkwater's experience yesterday. And remember, if you're not making mistakes you're not trying!

I still think he will turn out to be very good.

He at times has showed potential.

he is only 23 and didn’t even get pre-season

All I remember him doing yesterday when he came on was:

- Giving the ball away cheaply twice
- Standing on the ball and falling over it
- A comically bad touch where it bounced about 5 feet away

Maybe in 5 years time I'll look back at this and laugh as he powers his way through the midfield and leads us to glory, but right now he should be behind Drinkwater in the manager's plans.

The thing that bugs me most about his play is that he seems, a little bit like his name, very timid in his play. Not just the passing and general uncertainty, it's the lack of bite and aggression...Eg. the tentative few steps to close a player down he takes, the lack of energy in challenging for the ball... I think I expected him to physically bully players a bit, to have some of that physical power that Essien provided.

I didn't pay much attention to him when he was at Monaco, so didn't know much other than that he was meant to have good athletic, physical qualities.

We saw a bit of that against Tottenham in the debut.

I wonder if tactical instructions from Conte or something specific from Conte is making him play this way.

It would be great to have a view from a Monaco fan.

It's what's surprising me most, Bakayoko's game time over Drinkwater, Drinkwater who has shown very good quality.

Obviously Conte must have a lot of faith in Bakayoko, but I really wish he would play give Drinkwater the minutes he's giving Bakayoko instead. Drinkwater is a proven PL player and looks like he's still got a point to prove, especially before this World Cup. Whereas Bakayoko it's hit and miss completely, I'll praise him when he does well, and I'll criticise him when he does bad, but I've seen more bad/average performances than I've seen good ones, and that for me isn't good enough right now.

I'm glad DW looks to be taking his place now, Baka is young and to me doesn't have the right professional attitude, he's taking it all for granted at the moment. Boy gotta learn to work hard or sit down with the blankie.

Hmmm... I don't know about the attitude being wanting in that sense.

Was it after Liverpool when he scored that goal and his reaction during the  celebration... Just relief.

I think he knows he's been playing poorly. Maybe the pressure affecting him. I don't know... I'd be happy to see Drinkwater ahead of him. The only thing there is it means there is little height in the midfield (and during set pieces).

Drinkwater has been injured up until now. Hence why Drinkwater is now getting a look in.

Drinkwater has been fine for well over a month.

Bakayako is rubbish, he's in the wrong league, bring back Loftus Cheek.

Morata not great either tonight, it looked harder miss two of his chances, need to buy someone else, to keep him on his toes

Hazard always dangerous, best player on the park by a mile or two

Why no Pedro ?

I still can't see what he actually does.

He doesn't score, he doesn't really tackle, he doesn't bust a gut like Kante, he can't even really pass more than 2-3 yards. WHAT DOES HE DO?

He gets into a goal scoring position to be fair to him, but then has a complete brain fart. He did get a few shots but were saved, then were few and far between...

The worst player ever for CFC. Currently leading the worst player in PL history category. He’s awful, awful and more awful combined into one giant sandwich of utter tripe.

Starting to think we should cut our losses this summer and hopefully get 60-70% back of what we paid for him.

He is an absolute passenger and more dangerous to ourselves than he is to the opposition.

Is there a set number of games in his contract or what is happening?!

Am i blind? i am so clueless... on how he is still starting.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe Conte advised to buy him whereas DW is a board buy, he has to play him for political reasons, if it shows that the board knows best then Conte will lose power.

I can't imagine why the heck else...

I'm trying not to write players off too early, we've seen that come back to bite us. But when you look at the ones who got away, De Bruyne clearly had a lot of talent, even Salah (who I thought was sh*t and wanted rid of) had some saving graces - he was very fast, and he was okay at finishing.

But this guy...

I'm racking my brain to think of one thing he actually does well, and I honestly can't think of anything. I'm not being sarcastic, I can't think of a single thing you can say "Bakayoko is good at that".

But we've got him now. And he cost a lot of money. So knowing Chelsea we'll be stuck with him for years, and let promising players like RLC go instead.

What he is brings is a midfield energy, a real powerhouse going forward with his runs. I can see why Conte kept him on because of this.

Theres a player in there and he show some promising signs. He definitely is abit naive defensively but I think it will come.

Patience guys.

When?

There's no energy tracking back, he jogs back and lets players run off him all the time.

About once a game he'll go on a run through the midfield, but so what? How does that help, if he bursts through a few players and then misplaces the pass?
