Tiémoué Bakayoko

Featured Replies

I do not know what Bakayoko offers at all.  Pulls out of tackles, clumsy, poor passing ability.. The list goes on.  Yes he might improve but 40 million is a joke.

Had a very good first half against Atletico, shouldn't leave Saul alone in the second half, but so Zappacosta who left Torres.

What do you count as a very good first half? I would say his positioning was good but he also gave the ball away, not a huge improvement, the whole team was organised. If that's what we are counting as a very good half then we shouldn't have given Matic away.

Out of the 3 man midfield he had the lowest pass completion and Fabregas was consistently playing the ball forward. https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1238336/Live/Europe-UEFA-Champions-League-2017-2018-Chelsea-Atletico-Madrid

He won few battles which led to dangerous counter-attacks, he stole that ball from Griezmann which we had to finish with a goal. He was good defensively and had a good partnership with Kante. The second half went bad for him.

Starting to look like the young unfinished product that he is, so glad we signed Drinkwater. He does have talent and fits in more than RLC but I think if we kept Chalobah we wouldn't really need Bakayoko.

I don't recall those moments, like I said we were very organised, even Fabregas was well positioned.

Made a clumsy challenge on Koke from behind which wasn't necessary, he made about 2 good tackles in the first half and gave the ball away a few times. I wouldn't count it as a standout performance, if we are praising him for this level of football then something is wrong. Still in no way warrants a game over Drinkwater.

Did well 1st half, but fell asleep for their goal, and then his head went a little bit.

He has potential but I don't really see him or drinkwater as the best we can do for that 3rd midfielder spot. We could really do with someone with an eye for goal.

He started okay when he got into the team, but sheesh has he regressed.

Needs to concentrate.

Keep Chalobah?  Chalobah was given plenty of chances last season, and proved he is nowhere near Chelsea quality.

Of course he is behind Drinkwater, that is not even a contest. If you ask me, he should go even behind Luiz. He is that bad. Won few battles? Really? How many battles does Luiz win when he plays on this position? How many key passes did Drinkwater make in the limited time he got so far for the club? Won few battles... what about lack of passing, what about being responsible for two goals, that cost us so much in 2 games in a row he went on the pitch, what about lack of positioning, shooting, tackling?  This guy is bad. Right here, right now, he is bad, and he doesn't deserve any more chances as a starter. Thank god there is no more Champions League and he is not getting chances in PL. He has to earn them, that's it. Like Batschuay did, Christensen, Fabregas etc.

Just makes me laugh at little at all those talented Monaco players last season and the one we buy is the least talented out of all of them. The games i watched Fabinho looked the much better player.

I was saying before we signed Bakayoko that he was the one i was least impressed with out of those Monaco players. He's got so much to learn and at the price we paid for him, you want a more complete player.

His concentration is his biggest flaw. He makes stupid tackles and losses his man a lot. Those are things he will need to sort out quickly at this level.

I think there will be a problem when people start overpraising him for simple things which is what I'm currently seeing, he's young & and has had an injury but we signed a player to fit in right now. If that wasn't the case then why didn't we just wait on Loftus Cheek? If we want him to be a passenger why did we get rid of Matic? Again I'm sorry to be horribly cliche here because it's not what we want to hear but sadly it's the truth, at the moment this guy doesn't look good enough for this level of football.

It's not the fact that I'm writing him off too early, I'm just questioning the signing on the circumstances. We needed a player who would instantly fit into the side and start next to Kante, this one simply can't do that. We'll either have to wait until he develops or he might not get better at all, I definitely think we signed the wrong centre mid from Monaco.

Writing was on the wall last season against Juventus. Many of us had serious doubts about his positioning. He now appears some months later as a very raw recruit, potential but a long way from the guaranteed starter we required. Probably on reflection could have done with another season in France and a perfect example of buying the new shiny toy neglecting the gems we already own and in need of similar development.

I think this is the whole point of bringing Drinkwater in too, we’ve got the player we all know can do a great job alongside Kante and give Bakayoko a chance to adapt and grow as a player.

I think he’s one of those signings we need to judge in a season or two. The price tag is just the craziness of the market.

The next salah? Will we show him no patients, flog him at cost then he goes on to become to new yaya playing for one of our rivals?

Or is he just rubbish like papy?

I am not sure what you are confused with?

Specially when our own manager has said that he did not want to sell matic, and wanted to integrate Bakayoko steadily instead of throwing him in the deep end of the pool. Seems Conte's assessment of Baka was spot on.

He didn't say that, he said he was sad to see Matic go, completely different.

If that's his assessment then why is Bakayoko having so many games when he's clearly not performing at his top level? Not doubting Conte but I doubt he's purely a development player.

Any chance we kept the receipt?

He's generaly been really, really poor for us. Let's be honest.
Today was a complete sh*tshow from him once again. Lost his man on Atleticos goal tuesday, lost Lanzini on West Hams goal today.
