He is probably the only player in the world who can pull that off and the only headless chicken with any method to its madness. I'm sure everyone here loves Kante. Ok, @ashwin If that's how you see it. To me, "running around in a headless-chicken style" is the ultimate in offensive comments about a players style.
October 30, 20178 yr If there was method to the madness then the chicken would surely not be headless? The whole headless part of the analogy is to describe the act as being brainless or careless
October 30, 20178 yr Yeah, I don't think it's the correct terminology to use, Kante's ball-winning methods are all instincts and stamina. He can go on for hours and hours reading the game and getting the ball back. Baka was also good at this at Monaco, but again far behind Kante. Edited October 30, 20178 yr by Slojo

It's an interesting way to describe how frantic his movement is (better than there were 7 Kantes on the pitch) ... but a poor way to describe his decision making (agree, this would be the purest interpretation of the phrase). Depends on the intention and how you want to interpret the phrase. I thought it was quite clear in context. Still, a trivial statement not worthy of this much discussion!

I think it might be a possible language issue. To a native English speaker, there is no positive connotation or interpretation that can be placed on accusing someone of running around "like a headless chicken". It may be in other cultures that the interpretation you and your friend place on the phrase is not so condemnatory. I'll leave it at that with you, @ashwin , as we usually get along fine. The other bloke is a right tit, though, and I think you might have been over-generous in giving the benefit of the doubt.

That wouldn't be how I would use it but I can imagine others using it without completely understanding the general usage of the phrase. 12 minutes ago, yorkleyblue said: @ashwin The other bloke is a right tit, though, and I think you might have been over-generous in giving the benefit of the doubt. I don't think he's playing or has played particularly well so far, but seeing as we have absolutely no credible replacements at the moment then I hope he stays and improves for his spot. I'm hoping that Kante and Drinkwater will eventually form a really good partnership a la Leicester days.

It also leads itself to a 10 men went to mow remix: 1 Kante called N’Golo (N’Golo!) went to win the ball back... I’ll get my coat.
October 31, 20178 yr Headless chicken was probably a poor choice of words but @didierforever's intentions were right. Even Makelele himself has gone on record and said that Kante needs to calm down with his excessive running and rely on reading the game more.
October 31, 20178 yr Oh, damn, it was all about Kante... I mean headless chicken stuff. :D Anyway... I'm not impressed as well but we should never forget that this player was forced to return. He was injured and we were running out of options, what do you expect? Given that and his partner for last few games, he wasn't that bad. Yes, with Fabregas was bad but who would't be right now, tell me? I bet Modric, Kroos and Thiago would look exactly the same way playing along Cesc. Let's give him some time. He's got really good speed, strength and dribbling skills. Thats a good base, very similar to what Pogba's got. Antonio can turn this player into a machine. Edited October 31, 20178 yr by Pendergast
October 31, 20178 yr You want to let it go Ossie. The bloke is always playing the racist card when he gets called out for just being a twat. He's got history. Bang the f**ker on ignore and get on with the rest of the decent forum members. I'm sure that @coco is keeping a watching brief :)
October 31, 20178 yr I know - he accused me of racism when he was looking like a tit during a football "discussion". I stuck him straight on ignore then and mostly keep it that way. f**king idiot to say Kante is like a headless chicken, and then to bluster when he's called out on it. Still, he watches a lot of football on the telly, so what do I know, eh? Gotta love that ignore button :)
October 31, 20178 yr I'm not entirely sure what sparked this off again, if it was the remark "London based member" i can see why people are jumping onto it, taking into consideration previous history. But it's not what i would consider racism per se. @didierforever maybe choose your words a little better ?
October 31, 20178 yr f**king hell, thought I was going to see some discussion about his performance at the weekend in this thread, silly me.

What you think of his Blue hair ? Has any Chelsea player ever took to the field with Blue hair before ? I can't ever remember one.

I can't recall anyone else ever dying their hair blue in the Chelsea side, but i suppose it had to start somewhere. As long as he doesn't start dabbing I think we'll be fine

If anything, Matic's positioning complimented Kante's headless chicken style of play. He cut out the passing lines and severely went under the radar. Yes, on the ball, he could be sloppy as hell, but given how good we were defensively at times last season and compare it to this season, I would say matic has got redemption. I actually didn't feel we were that great defensively last season save for the 13 game winning run. Edited October 31, 20178 yr by Argo
October 31, 20178 yr I think Bakayoko has done faily well for what he's asked to do. He wins the ball back and has shown better technical skill than I thought he had. He is prone to an error, which has led to goals, so I understand where some of it is coming from. No one is going to be perfect and mistakes will happen, but if he just cuts it down a bit we will have a very tidy young player on our hands...

October 31, 20178 yr He must work on his passing ability, sometimes he moves the ball without seeing his teammate. Can't really blame him after our loss to Roma, the team has looked poor in the second half and he's got the wrong partner in the central. He can't take the risk and dribble forward because he doesn't have the player that will cover his area. With Kante, we're going to see a much better Bakayoko.
