Thought we looked set for a comfortable win until the ref ruined the game with a stupid sending off in a CHARITY game.

I would have agreed, but apparently we lose Pedro to suspension (the commentators said it)...maybe only for a week, I'm not sure....and missing a penalty for Morata will hardly do his confidence the world of good. I wanted him to get on the front foot early. Last thing I want is a start like Torres had. I'm not saying he will, but ending today on a positive note would have been a good step.

And Courtois...the less said about that clown fiesta the better.

I agree, Cabellero was very poor on the bench today, crossed legs just isn't his position, he's more of a leaning back type sitter.

Saying player b "did nothing as well" is not a good argument for player a being good.  

FWIW I disagree with you, I think morata was better in his brief stint with ten men tHan batshuayi was playing with 11.

Arsenal were on the front foot already, he barely got a touch before Pedro got sent off, then what can he do in less than 10 minutes of game time?
Yeah he missed a penalty but so did JT and Mata, we don't blame them for it. 

Some consistency from the refs would be nice. If that was a red for Pedro, so it should have been red for Bellerin for similar tackle earlier in the game. Pedro was careless but the ref f**ked us with that decision.

As far as the game overall it was OK considering that we're still not fully fit and the current depleted state of the squad. Was hoping for Morata to be fitter than what I've seen tbh, a week from the start of the season he'll need to improve, and fast.

we did well considering this was our fifth competitive preseason game. arsenal have had probably twice as many preseason games as us and we a bit fitter, but not by much. we are nearing ideal fitness levels. i predict by the season start we'll be fine in that regard. 

Let's hope we start bringing more players.

We shouldn't get carried away, it's a glorified friendly, of coarse the performance could have been better, it's nice to see that the officials are still as bad as ever, but we should have tried a lot harder to make the game safe. The main problem has been mentioned numerous times, the lack of depth is startling and needs addressing within the next couple of weeks. As far as Arsenal are concerned, that's probably the only trophy they'll win this season and I'm actually surprised that there won't be a parade, given the state of them.

He needs a goal quickly though to settle the nerves. The longer it goes on and it might start playing in his head.

Too late now i think. I can't see Juve selling him this late into the transfer window, especially now that they have sold Bonucci and Alves.

I think United hijacking the Lukaku deal sent out a bigger shock wave than initially felt. It feels like there's been a sense of desperation steadily creeping through the club ever since. Of course the board signed Morata but let's face it, he's unproven in the league and we don't know if he can handle the pressure, that penalty miss wasn't a good sign. I just can't see him grabbing things by the scruff of the neck like Diego did. Early days of course, but this league is brutal from the start, you don't have time to 'build up confidence' beforehand, not if you want to win it.

I fully expect United to take it this year. Lukaku top scorer. Matic back in form and a gloating ex manager to boot. Ouch

 

 

We look under cooked again going into the new season.  Was three matches sufficient, all in tropical heat? 

So what did we learn today

Fabregas can't play in a two in midfield,showing how woefully short we are in this department

Bats will always grab a goal but leading the line alone he simply isn't good enough at hold up play

Pedro was running on empty when he made the bad challenge, earlier substitutions might have been in order by Conte

Kante is our most important player any prolonged absence would hurt us badly

Without Hazard we don't carry much menace

Are there enough goals in this side?

Be interesting to see how we perform in the league this season.

it will be harder as all will want to beat us as we are champions. And we have more games, and other teams know what to expect now.

Agreed. Surely the board have/had a 2nd option... regardless, we're a week out from the start of the season and we look flat and a have lack of depth in the squad. Very worrying

We named 24 players on our squad. Arsenal had  what 40. Ok there is no doubt that we need a few more players but naming that number of players is just plain stupid and not something I really think we need to aspire too. If it was just a numbers game we could have included the likes of Baker and Baba.

It won't depress me, you can't win every year. I just feel that it's going to be between United and City this year, with Jose's experience coming out on top.

I'm more looking forward to being back in the Champions League.

Like we d on`t have youth like Buga, Musonda, Tumori, Kenedy and Costa, who won`t play for us ? And 2 GK in the squad. Can you even calculate ?

18 players, from which 3 are GK, and 3 are injured/suspended, one of them is Loic Remy, who is 100kg, And for the our first match we will have exactly 13 players, without the 2 reserve GK.

Great Squad, great job work.

Even sh*** team like Arsenal have a lot more depth then us. They atleast have something they can rely, while we don`t. All of our young team is send on loan.
