What are your expectations this season?

Featured Replies

Premier league: Only team I can see really giving us a challenge is Manchester Utd. They have a world class manager whose won the league three times and their team looks very strong in all areas. Very formidable challengers, but I think our team is just as strong if not stronger and I expect us to win our second title in a row

Carabao League cup: Play our B team and if lucky enough to reach the semi finals, bring in the big guns and go all out. A trophy is a trophy after all but really not fussed either way about this.

Champions league: Conte's European record at Juventus was a bit worrying so I'm interested to see how he fares in this one. We should be able to get out of the group stage and I believe we are strong enough to at least reach the semi finals. In fact a semi final appearance will be very good. Don't think we are strong enough yet against the big boys.

FA Cup: let's go all out and try to win this. Last year was very painful and it's a competition that I love dearly.

So basically, win the double, and reach the semi finals in Europe.

Premier league: Nothing too spectacular, I think this season might be a bit of a wakeup call to the board to splash the cash on world class players if they want to compete with Man City and United. Yes Conte can make world beaters out of Alonso, but I feel we're all fully aware that Conte isn't going to be here forever. 3rd place finish

Carabao League cup: Difficult to say but I agree with the point being made above, I reckon if we use it to flex our squad depth then it could potentially be a good run.

FA Cup: Ditto^

Champions' League: I really want us to have a good run. I hope we face Real Madrid in the knock outs, haven't played against them in a while, will be interesting to see how our squad competes, minimum, I expect to reach Round of 16, most I expect is Semis.

I hope we prioritise the league and CL. I don't think we have the squad for all 4. Would love us to retain the league as I really don't want United winning it. Jose would be so smug.

I expect though that we will fall short in the CL and in the top 2. I think United will also be there. City and Liverpool are too flimsy.

Top 4. Would love it if we win just to see Jose in a meltdown again after the stick he gives us.

CL Semi if favorable draws along the way if not, R16 or Quarters is fine.

LC win

FA Cup win

We're not equipped for all 4 but we should try to go for it if the opportunity presents itself.

If the squad has issues mid-season then I'll adjust my expectations accordingly

I think we'll be in the mix for the Title but I reckon it will end up in Manchester. It's been a long time since anyone retained the Title, it just seems to get tougher every year to accomplish. My main concern to be honest is Top 4 consolidation, anything above that is a bonus.

I'd quite like to go on a run in either the Carabao or FA Cup, but at the same time keen to see the squad players used. Being honest again I think our best chance of winning any silverware is in either of these cups. Going to Wembley again would be good.

In terms of Europe, I think it will be difficult to get out of the group but we should be able to. I hope we can get to the Quarters, but I'd expect us to draw one of Barca/Real/Bayern at that point and then bow out. Would like a decent trip!

A good scrap for the title, I think united are definitely the team to beat this year.

Decent showing in Europe but I'm not expecting much.

I do love a good cup run and we're normally one to 'respect' the little competitions.

League: To win it.

CL: A good run to Semi Finals.

FA Cup: Still believe that this is a great tournament to win.

League Cup. Honestly not that bothered. If we win it ,great. But I am not usually that bothered if we go out.

Will do the triple like Man U last season :good2:

PL:

I actually think we will win it, the conquering Man U looked flappable at the first sign of a test and haven't played a top 5 team yet, is and city have.

City look dangerous but I don't think pep will get them to gel in a way that will bring enough consistency to win the leauge.

Dont think anyone else is a serious contender just pace keepers, we showed we have the ability to keep winning games and with hazard back and everyone fully fit we will have enough to win it again.

CL: Not enough quality in our depth to go far and challenge in the leauge, I think the board will push conte to prioritise a good run for the brand, which is the only thing I see derail out title defence.

Having said that it all depends on the runs we get, we will finish second in the group and it all depends who we get next, very hard to predict when you can't see they opponents.

If we manage to get an easier run we could feasible do semis, finish second and get a big team could go out round of 16, to average that 1/4 finals is the mike stick either side of that depending on the draw.

Cups: will be pushed to field a stronger squad in the LC since the sponsors are our sponsors, many club decisions in this era will be commercial based not football based.

Compete for title till end. Minimum top 4.

Champions League Quarter finals at Least.

One cup of from the domestic two.

I don't think the squad is strong enough to do better than that.

The team played better last season than it actually was, along with some good fortune with injuries.

Another good quality striker, another quality forward closer to Hazard level and upgrading the fullbacks would have done that.

As it stands, any improvement in the squad appears too small to really mount a serious challenge on all fronts simultaneously.

3rd in the PL.

Knocked out in the quarters of the League Cup.

Finish 3rd in our CL group, then go out in the semi's of the Europa.

Knocked out in the quarter finals of the FA Cup.

A disappointing season all round. One with so much promise yet delivers nothing.

Full of optimism, considering we are one point off the top, and Manyoo, and Citeh don't look that much?

Other competitions are just hit & miss and very hard to just make a prediction, as for the league I think we will finish 3rd place.

The transfer window for me was just too weak, the dealings were too late and panic transfers. United and City got a lot of good business wrapped up early. I would say United are the most organised team in the league right now, however concerns about Jose not adapting to the modern game, they lack serious width. They only have one attacking fullback who's getting past it, Damarian is also dreadful going forward, Martial & Rashford will always be looking to cut inside.

As for City their defense is still all over the place thanks to naive Pep, but their quality is just incredible. On their day you do not want to play them they can storm past any team, but in the long run I can see them falling short again, and that's down to Pep Guardiola and the way he sets the team up.

People might say I'm being negative but I think I'm just being realistic here, I'm not happy with our business in the market besides Morata. I think that back 3 will come back to haunt us as the season develops. Look at how bad we were at keeping clean sheets last season when we had 1 game a week.

I must hand it to some of you for sticking to your narrative that we've had a bad transfer window, even after a few games. A few games where the first team has looked good (great potential) and the bench looks stronger than in the last many years.

We live in the era where people don't even want to change their minds when presented with facts. The media has told them we had a bad transfer window so they're sticking with that despite evidence to the contrary. I think Sean Spicer called it "alternative  facts"

It was a bad window in terms of leaving everything at the last minute. The quality is there in terms of defenders and centre midfielders but the squad still lacks another attacking player and a forward. The squad isn't good enough for a PL and Champions league challenge.

Chelsea had been chasing Drinkwater for weeks maybe months but they need a 2 hour extension to complete the deal. Why not complete the deal early, get him in the squad and it gives Leicester plenty of time to find a replacement. All the moaning I read regarding Batman does anyone believe he could cover Morata for a few months if he got injured? Llorente was only 12m.

The team which suffers the least number of injuries between us, United & City will win the PL

All 3 can beat each other on their day and if we lose a couple of attacking players we will struggle and if City lose a couple of defenders they will be down to a defense which is being led by Stones. United maybe less so as they seem to have decent coverage across all areas.

It's a long season, you could make a good argument that fans aren't fickle. In the long run of the season is what counts and we can't make a correct judgement on that until the season is over. My estimation is that we will come short with the back 3 and I have no doubt in my mind we will persist with playing Gary Cahill now that he isn't suspended.

I don't think the window was a disaster, time will tell, But Morta is a Gem, Drinkwater is a very able back up, mark my words Bakayoko is going to be immense, the italian FB/WB don't know enough about, and Rudiger is a fixture in a German national Team, which by itself say he must be good, so cheer up you dowdy bunch..

I'm very cheerful. I think we had a good transfer window and this team is actually better than last year.

Most people aren't comparing it to our other transfer windows, they're comparing it to circumstances & our rivals, who have made better and quicker business than we have.

I think over the recent years United have far superior squad players to what we do now, that's what'll make it decisive this season. I could be wrong and I'll happily hold my hands up but until then but I'm not going to say I was wrong after just a few games and I wouldn't expect anyone else to either, it's a long season...
