November 8, 20178 yr Marina will be in charge for the time being, Emenalo left her a list of targets and she will be in control of everything for now, Drogba will very likely get the role in the near future even though Marina will still have all the power though.
November 8, 20178 yr First of all - Frank Lampard has the highest IQ among the footballers in PL. He can manage the job. Second, he has come to the training ground many times and you better be sure that Conte wouldn't let him if he didn't trust him. Third, as a smart guy, Frank will realise that he is a newbie. A very smart, but newbie. So I guess he will have non stop communication with Conte. Last but not least, Frank is a Legend, a name that will attract players like gravitation does. So why the hell not? I think it's a good idea.
November 8, 20178 yr I doubt it will happen but Gullit? Or Hiddink? If it could be Lampard, Vialli, Di Matteo, Zola, Ballack or Drogba it would be nice. If anyone comes in though it's likely to be a Emanalo, Tenk Cate, Grant situation though? Internally does Newton stand a chance seems respected by the club and is a loan liaison role at the moment.
November 8, 20178 yr As long as it's someone that can spot and nurture talent with the mountains of data given.

Lampard has a contract with BT sport, Marina isn’t going to want to pay them to get Lampard and Lamps wants to become a coach, he will most likely take over from Jody Morris soon.

November 8, 20178 yr Surely Elemano hasn’t left yet? Normally there is a minimum of 2 months notice with normal jobs, never mind high profile ones.

There's not even a proper consensus in the footballing world about what that job is. Which explains the confusion over what exactly it was that he did at Chelsea all these years.
November 8, 20178 yr I think the main criteria for a good technical director would be first and foremost, an ability to spot potential and judge ability, because ultimately it will be the signings they push for that will define their success. Secondly I think you have to be a good people person, as networking and negotiating are going to be key elements. Thirdly, you have to be thick skinned, as it's position that usually attracts criticism in England. I think lampard or drogba could potentially do the job. Leonardo has does okay. Not sure whether they would want to though.

Otherwise it will be decided by marina and roman, who are both experts in their field, but neither have played the game, and I think we need that link with the manager.

We need someone to monitor the performances of the first team all the way to the U8s, monitor and assess players being scouted and the head coach needs someone to challenge or back him up for transfer related issues. Conte is a good manager but he's not perfect and is not able to monitor 1000s of potential players for us. Look at it this way, do we really want Marina to hold all the cards? It'd be great if we can get someone of Bayern's caliber that gels well with Conte Edited November 9, 20178 yr by Deino
November 9, 20178 yr Drogba that would be the best choise, I think or Ballack, but Drogba always has wanted works in the Board after his career of player. It's a guy very smart close with Abramovich. I think this role is perfect for Drogba. Already when he was player at Chelsea, it's him who advisored Mourinho for take Kalou. I think that if he works correctly he could do very good things. Okay he is a newbie, but he goes learn like Emenalo at first. Edited November 9, 20178 yr by Cyborg7
November 9, 20178 yr Ex player or someone like Hiddink for a couple of years. I don't think we will do without one for long, and there's no way Roman got time to get his hands dirty on this.

November 9, 20178 yr Drogba has he own thing going on in the US though. Here’s what Lampard had to say... http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/11119366/frank-lampard-keeps-chelsea-options-open-after-michael-emenalo-exit
November 12, 20178 yr Suggested here it is one Luis Campo, who assembled the recent 'over-achieving' Monaco side: http://www.football365.com/news/chelsea-want-former-mourinho-aide-to-replace-emenalo
November 12, 20178 yr The fella at Roma would be a fantastic choice if we're not able to rush Lamps or Drogba in. He was at Sevilla before Roma, he has a knack for finding bargains and getting deals. Whoever Conte worked with at Juve would also be an option assuming they got on which they may not have if he was part of the reason Conte wasn't allowed to spend the money he wanted. And we all know that Monaco this last years made massive works especially with the young players.
November 13, 20178 yr Author Does he have long term success there? Long term job this. This is why someone like Frankie would be great. He will be Chelsea till he dies. The job is also not hectic but long term planning. This is how I see it anyway.
November 13, 20178 yr If Frank loves this job - yes please. If he wants to do anything else later - try to lure one of the guys of Roma or Monaco.

That sounds so played down It was something to do with Drogba talking to him on the phone to speak to Roman. I don't know the story and can only find this on it from the Telegraph. Quote Drogba played a huge part in Hazard signing for Chelsea in 2012, enlisting the help of his former Ivory Coast international team-mate Gervinho to speak personally to Hazard and put him in touch with Blues owner Roman Abramovich. Either way (and I think Joe Cole played a part in it too) I don't think Emenalo can gain too much credit for it as I keep hearing.
