July 21, 20205 yr 2 minutes ago, dkw said: Wow, thats big of you... Well the problem was not just the "arrest" but the situation he got himself into. It smacked of someone not taking their life seriously. But we don't need to go around that again.
July 21, 20205 yr I actually would not be surprised to see him start against Liverpool. If Pulisic is not 100% or Willian needs a rest (or both), it would be a great occasion to start CHO and see what he does against an elite club. The kid is young and raw. Having a serious injury, a new manager, a potential world class talent entering and competing for time, and a legal dispute where it seems that he is innocent did not make CHO’s season easy. I just think people need to take it easy and give him a chance next season.
July 21, 20205 yr Maybe time to stop posting sh*te about him not working hard in training then I guess?

I listen to Lampard. 2 weeks ago he said he wasn't training hard and he wasn't playing him. Now Lampard is saying he is. Let's see if Frank decides to reward him with playing time. If he does, good on Callum for listening to feedback and not whining. I dont necessarily believe the Independent story today about him, that could just be noise. Some posters have been trying to find any reason they can imagine to why he's still on track to be a world class player and that the reason he isn't playing has nothing to do with his aptitude but instead because he had coronavirus or an achilles injury over a year ago. I am not going to do the same if he starts playing and playing well.

But I've criticised him because 1) he was arrested and 2) because Frank said he wasn't working hard enough in training. I'd criticise every player for that. Every one of our players and young players gets slagged off too much on social media. Reece James has turned off comments on his instagram for example. Tammy is routinely slagged off. I don't believe the media give two sh*ts about CHO. Outside of Chelsea most fan bases don't even notice him because he hasn't actually done anything significant on the field. Same as how one poster on here didn't even know who Greenwood was a few weeks ago despite being incredible for United in Europa League and adored by their fan base.

His performances weren't at the level of mount or Abraham this season. That's what people are looking at. Abraham and Mount are playing better than their respective first team players from last season. CHO imo didn't play better than Willian or Pedro when he played in the league - same level arguably. If he wants to sign a big contract with big wages. After handing in a transfer request. Then the least anyone can expect is that he is going to have the pressure on him to perform at a top top level. He's demanded to be treated like a world class talent. So he doesn't deserve the patience other players at his age will get. Happy to stand by this comment at the time. I don't think there's anything wrong with saying someone on wages of 120-180k should be treated like a first team player. I don't think there's anything wrong with saying he hasn't performed at a consistent PL level yet like Mount or Abraham. Do you still think we should treat him like a promising youngster? I think he should be forcing Willian out of the team on those wages and when I hear from Lampard that he's not training hard enough, I get pissed off. How on earth does that give you the high ground?
July 21, 20205 yr @bisright1Can we just clarify, he was wrongfully arrested. Broke quarantine, sure (who didn't). But you keep on like he's a convicted rapist.

Jesus Christ, no I'm not. And for the record, he wasn't wrongfully arrested. He was arrested with probable cause but not enough to prosecute. Wrongful arrest implies the girl lied. There is as little evidence of that as there is that he raped her. I don't want to go round the houses on this case again, but I don't like seeing terms like wrongful arrest. If it was wrongful arrest she would be arrested and he would be compensated, neither of those things has happened. But I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt as the law is. I'm pissed off that he acted so stupidly but I'm moving on because I want to see him do well. It's why I didn't slag him off about his contract at all when be signed it despite what dkw says I said. I want to see him do well I'm glad to hear Frank's comments today that he's been at it in training, hopefully this leads to minutes. I didn't post anything about the lies the independent wrote about him today because I could see they were lies. If I had an agenda I'd have been all over that. This whole conversation started because people said Frank wasn't playing him because he was recovering from injury and I pointed out Frank had said he's not playing because he needs to work harder in training. Which Frank confirmed again today. I still don't think he will make it as a top player. He gets injured a lot, he has had his manager complain about his work rate and the chances of young players turning into great players is always always slim. I've been wrong on that before though. July 21, 20205 yr Amazing how much changes in a year. Prior to his injury all we saw was opportunity. All things considered its been a very tough year for him. Would love to see him make an impact next year. I'll get push back for this, but to me I just don't see it working out with him. Lacks the work rate and my distant perception of his attitude gives me concern. Probably very unfair, but he looks 5 years behind Pulisic, not 2. Just doesn't strike me as a player that's up for the challenge to earn his spot. Please make me eat my words!
July 22, 20205 yr Sky are also reporting him possibly wanting out too, probably just recycling the original report - no direct quotes though from him or his agent etc. Dont want to see Frank giving him a start until we have top 4 locked up, so if we manage to get it done tonight then let him have the Wolves game. He never ‘confirmed’ that he needs to work harder in training, literally the opposite.

It’s just a recycled report mate. They really should be deleting that article considering CHO’s camp and Lampard have come out and rubbished the reports. Unlike Sky to try and destabilise chelsea before Liverpool’s big day!

July 22, 20205 yr Can we just agree that working hard in training is very important in the pursuit of a starting position? Sheez.

You keep trotting this line out like it is gospel. Lampard didnt say that. He didnt even imply that CHO wasnt working hard enough in training. He gave a generic answer. He has said the same thing about every player he has been asked about "work hard in training, take your chances when they come". Obviously you will look for a negative in that statement, because it fits your opinion. The facts are CHO at 19, has worked himself into the starting 11 of the 3rd best team in the country twice under 2 different managers, only to have his progress halted by injury. The fact he keeps getting back in says more about how his attitude and how he trains, than a generic response thrown away by lampard.
July 22, 20205 yr i still back the lad.. while certainly pace and trickery are important.. what this lad has is vision and playing the right pass .. everytime he comes on i rarely see him trying to dribble the world and end up in a dark alley with no options.. Pulisic for how great he has been post lockdown has done that too.. .. for a winger/IF CHO has a good passing range - he can cross. At youth level he was quite a good finisher but for some reason this season he has been poor at finishing and that is the why he is not playing that often.. i just believe the lad needs a break a little bit of confidence and mental toughness.. some tough love and he will be a serious player for us. I dont like to compare young players with each other - each develop differently and at different pace..

Thats the big thing that makes him stand out from all the other tricky fast players I've seen come through over the years, his final product is incredible for one so young. Rarely does a kid come in to a first team and show such composure and vision, some never do. Look at someone like Stirling, he is a superb player, runs teams ragged but makes so many stupid decisions even now. The last one I remember being this good was Wayne Rooney when he first made it into the Everton side. Edited July 22, 20205 yr by dkw
