Speaking to reporters ahead of Saturday’s clash against Brighton, Lampard said: “I have four wingers to choose from. They’re all fit. We all forget Christian has just turned 21 because of the price tag and because he’s come through from a very young age. It’s normal to expect an adaptation period. “He’s shown some really good moments, but what he has to do, as all the players have to, not just the wingers, is reach levels in training daily that make you sit up and go ‘here’s my team selection and that’s actually affected it, I have seen good stuff’. That’s the same for every player in the squad. “We must give Christian a bit of time to adapt because of his youth and the change of league and living. We support him hugely on that and his talent will come through.” Asked if he is now treating Pulisic as if he had been developed by Chelsea’s academy, Lampard replied: “They are all different, they’ve all got different pathways, he had a successful time at Dortmund. “He’s played in the Champions League, we were very aware of Christian’s path when we bought him but they are all different.” Edited July 22, 20205 yr by abramovich

He did leverage those 11 years into quite the contract. bottom line is when he is given time he MUST produce...after that above quote from October pulisic got 5 goals in the next 5 prem matches...should be interesting to see how he does going forward.
July 22, 20205 yr And so we are ALL agreed that Lampard was asking for CHO to kick on in training. That was what he needed to do to play. Same as what he said about Pulisic. Him not playing had nothing to do with him having coronavirus, or an achilles injury. Lampard has said he's seen that kick on in training. Now the next step is for lampard to play the kid and give him the chance to show it on the pitch. Can we stop bickering when we are all in agreement. Edited July 22, 20205 yr by bisright1

Had he not had any of those he'd have had an entire year of professional football under his belt and a lot further advanced in his progress. Can't just write of those two things in his development.
July 22, 20205 yr The fact that CHO isn't playing more is because he's CURRENTLY not at the level of Willian and Pulisic in terms of productivity and impact on the pitch. Will he get to their levels? Yes, potentially. Could he surpasses their levels? Yes, potentially. But he better get to that level fast, because things will get much more difficult next season for ANY attackers to get on the pitch. Chelsea is now loaded with offensive talents, and that's a great thing for the club.

Maybe. I think if he had been working hard enough in training from the 20th June or whenever he went back into full training, he would have featured in more minutes. Some people don't, but they accept that Lampard has called for him to work hard in training to get his place. Let's not forget, Pulisic featured for 0 minutes in the FA Cup Semi final and CHO only got 10-15 minutes when we were 3-0 up. That's an opinion. It's born out of my view on how long it takes players to get back from injury, my interpretation of Lampard's comments in press conferences and the fact that he's a young player who should be bouncing back to match fitness from (small) injuries quicker than 5-6 weeks. Could well be wrong. Next season is the test. He could also just be a completely injury prone player who never manages to make it to the next level. That's probably just as likely as him being world class. Edited July 22, 20205 yr by bisright1

July 22, 20205 yr He was pretty good when he came on today. Lively and changed the game along with Pulisic.
July 22, 20205 yr Went a bit under the radar due to Pulisic's impact but I thought he was fantastic when he came on himself. The way he found Pulisic for the third goal with the ball in the air and him running at speed was sensational, that's end product we simply do not see from Willian (and I'm far from a Willian basher). He has to start with Pulisic Vs Wolves, even more so if we play 3atb again (as it will put less defensive emphasis on the wingers).
July 22, 20205 yr Thought he looked really good when he came on, more of that. Good assist too, overshadowed by Pulisic's finish.

July 22, 20205 yr Big improvement on Sunday's effort. Showed quality coupled with hunger to be involved.
July 22, 20205 yr Brilliant today, completely changed the game, and against the best team in the league. Looked like Willian without the hair (there's still time), and more likely to get a goal. It's encouraging that he's good at the smart stuff. How many hopeless English wingers have we had who are all talent, all directness, and no brain? Maybe he'll prove to not be a winger himself!
July 22, 20205 yr I didn't watch the second half, not good for.my.mental health. Glad to hear he did well. He should have come on earlier, Willian makes me want to break things.
July 22, 20205 yr Played well today, was an attacking threat. Direct and unpredictable is what we need from our wingers.
July 22, 20205 yr ASSIST! just what the doctor ordered! he used his minutes effectively today. I still think Willian will be preferred to start against Wolves, but i expect him to get a decent shift. Keep the ball rolling CHO.
July 22, 20205 yr CHO looks lively and did really well today. Took his minutes well, more of that please. Edited July 22, 20205 yr by haviet1
