A friend of mine who is a Roma fan is convinced this is true. Monchi won't let just Palmieri go unless we buy Dzeko too. Basically we're paying 45m for Palmieri

It's not hard to imagine getting Emerson without Dzeko though. I can see it happening. Edited January 28, 20188 yr by ChelseaFanBoy

January 29, 20188 yr I'm reading that Roma fans protested against the club about the potential sale of Edin Dzeko to Chelsea after their loss to Sampdoria. Apparently they all wish he stays because they realize his value.

January 29, 20188 yr Independent reporting this looks dead in the water as we won't meet demands/valuations.

January 29, 20188 yr the problem is dzeko's end. he and his agent obviously want a longer contract than the chelsea are willing to offer. i don't understand why a 1 year deal with option to extend another year wouldn't be accepted by dzeko (if it's been offered of course). it seems he wants a 3 year deal which takes him to 35. what happens when our other over 30's players come knocking for a contract extension? do we refuse? the likes of willian, pedro and fabregas have been some of our best players the last couple seasons and letting dzeko sign a 3 year deal and only allowing them to sign a 1 year deal would be unfair in their eyes. sometimes you have to stand your ground, even if it's a tough decision to make. if dzeko doesn't accept a lesser contract offer to come to a better club, then stuff him.
January 29, 20188 yr It seems like the board won't take the risk of signing a player over 30 and we end up signing an Arsenal bench player while they get Aubameyang... Edited January 29, 20188 yr by Erdal1905

January 29, 20188 yr Author From the looks of it, if we pay Roma what they want and cave in to Dzeko's demands, we can: Secure a promising Left Back Get a pretty good striker (who was nominated for Ballon'dor last year if I recall) Get to f**k over Arsenal's Auba plans by loaning Bats to Roma.

January 29, 20188 yr I was initially keen on this transfer, mainly because we are being linked with Ashley Barnes and Peter crouch! But if there is anyway conte isn't going to be here next season, then it seems incredibly short sighted to spend a hefty chunk ffp wise on a player the next manager might not want, and one we won't even be able to sell. We might as well stick with Batshuayi until the summer, signing dzeko won't win us the league, and not signing him won't cost us a top 4 finish. I don't see the rush tbh.
January 29, 20188 yr DZEKO TO CHELSEA 'UNLIKELY' Sky in Italy are reporting that it is now unlikely that Chelsea will sign Edin Dzeko from Roma. In the last few hours the talks have become more and more complicated, as Dzeko’s wage requests are considered too high by Chelsea.

I don't see the rush tbh. as long as we can get a loan for giroud. some people have spoken about buying him. i think that would be worse to be honest. if the next manager doesn't want a big lump like giroud up top, and doesn't want to play that style of football, then surely dzeko is the safer option for the next manager. dzeko needs to accept our contract offer, otherwise it won't happen. our board have obviously agreed the fee for him, it's just him and his agent not budging. January 29, 20188 yr Author Shame I was so looking forward for an official player thread on the General Discussion page to be titled "Dzeko the Gecko"
January 29, 20188 yr I think we should just offer what's fair and if he doesn't want it forget him. There's a very slim chance he'll be any good at 35 so why offer him a contract until then. We don't need to be destroying a club policy for a player.

January 29, 20188 yr If we don’t sign Dzeko this window, then we may as well just keep Bats and also have Hazard as a option too for the striker role. Surely Morata’s bad form isn’t going to last all season.
