July 27, 20187 yr 9 minutes ago, coco said: https://www.chelseafc.com/en/matches/match-day/2017/919268?pageTab=report Quote Liverpool’s victory over Brighton at Anfield meant even a win at St James’ wouldn’t have been enough for us to sneak into the Champions League places, but this was still a disheartening way to bring the curtain down on our Premier League season Last game of the season, nobody interested in busting a gut, fifth place guaranteed and fourth place unobtainable whatever. Just because we lost, doesn't necessarily make it a "tough match" Quote So all eyes on Wembley now as the Blues look to quickly put this result and performance behind us. How did that work out?
July 27, 20187 yr Author Every game is tough in this league, some tougher than others, some even tougher, i don't ever hear anyone saying "this game is going to be easy". If you want a new scale of toughness, lets say a 10 is a Diego Costa(tough as nails), and a 1 is Alvaro Morata(soft as butter), city would be a 10 Diego Costa in tough games for us, Huddersfield away is a 5, Arse home a 6, and Newc away a 6.
July 27, 20187 yr Well, you can say that. Given that last season was, according to everyone a lot of people in here, Conte's deliberate sabotage of everything Chelsea, especially with regard to Man City, I've excluded last season, but prior to that Quote 21 Feb 2016 Chelsea v Manchester City W 5-1 FA Cup 16 Apr 2016 Chelsea v Manchester City L 0-3 Premier League 03 Dec 2016 Manchester City v Chelsea W 1-3 Premier League 05 Apr 2017 Chelsea v Manchester City W 2-1 Premier League So we don't do so badly against the toughest of toughness. Also, Arsenal anywhere is more like a knob of butter that has been left on a south-facing windowsill for the last 6 weeks on your new scale of toughness, nowhere near as hard and menacing as a Morata response to a Girl Guide tackling him for an autograph outside the Waitrose off the bottom of the North End Road, which is more like a full pack of butter, just out of the fridge. And you might be right about Huddersfield and Newcastle, but I don't consider 5 and 6 to be "tough matches" - just average.

Agreed. I remember us struggling against Burnley at home the first game of the season and losing the game. We also had a right game of it away to them in Joses title winning season in 2015. Newcastle away has been a bit of a bogey fixture for us in recent seasons too.

July 27, 20187 yr Author I think we cal all agree that their are no easy games. Morata will probably struggle more this season now defenders know him better, like last season he started off ok for 2 months, then defenders worked him out, get tight, be strong, stay on your feet, wait for him to mess it up, and then his season tailed off rather miserably, so i'm not expecting things to change in his favour this season, unless he makes things change, but i very much doubt he's got it in him. Looking good, looking like you have a player in you somewhere, looking like a RM babe, it just doesn't cut it in this league.

People need to differentiate between truly tough matches and ones where we lose, and need to take circumstances into account. Burnley were very lucky and we weren't. That's football. Whining on about that and the the Watford loss seems to be one or the great sticks to beat the club and Conte with, ignoring the circumstances, and the fact that, again, we had a man sent off after 30 minutes at 0-0, then we conceded a penalty, then equalised and were going forward chasing a winner when we got hit by three very late goals on the breakaway. The way that some in here relay it, we were battered from start to finish and totally out-played and out-classed by a world-class Watford side and were extremely lucky to get away with 4.

Not soft enough for him, he got used to come in from the bench in Real Madrid where he would get perfect video game crosses, that's what sold him, he did more or less the same in Italy and somehow someone thought that he really can be a first choice striker, something that he never has been... It's pathetic that people pointed out how Dave and him somehow understand eachother better, when fans that are older than 10 have seen that same Dave putting up those same crosses years back for Torres it has little to do with Morata, if he was missing even those crosses he wouldn't be a football player.
July 27, 20187 yr The team last year lacked a resolve. If the opposing team came out swinging, even smaller teams, CFC sat back and didn't fight back so many times. Huddersfield should never dominate a match against Chelsea and that Newcastle match was an abomination, we might not of had much chance of making 4th, but the didn't even care at all about showing up.
July 27, 20187 yr I just can't do another year of him falling over all the time and whining to the ref and basically playing like a big girl's blouse. We need a man up front.

But that's nothing unusual, i dont think we have ever had a striker who has had a first season flyer. I seem to remember Mutu had a brilliant start.

July 28, 20187 yr AC Milan might be taking Higuain on loan, which would possibly mean Mortata staying with us because AC were rumoured to be the club most keen on taking Moarata and Higuain was our main target for a new striker.
July 29, 20187 yr Sarri “Higuain? I am waiting for the best version of Morata. He has improved alot during the pre-season games and I am confident of him for the future” Love to dispel that Higuain rumor. This is another example of the English Media putting out rubbish. Also I believe Juve has to sell some players to make up for that CR7 transfer & it provides more fuel for the rumors about Juve selling players.
