June 28, 20197 yr Never liked Ferdinand. He always seemed like an overrated fraud to me who was lucky to have Vidic aslongside him to make him look much better than he was. Got absolutely nothing on JT.

June 28, 20197 yr Matt Law claiming we will recall Morata from his second loan year if Atleti don't buy him out. Marina really is the ultimate grifter.

Most of it he was right about with the exception of Man United being better than us but truthfully I don’t think many people were predicting them to collapse the way they did this season. Rio said Liverpool and City were well ahead of us quality wise, which they were and said if we had any hopes of finishing top four Hazard would need to play a blinder of a season, which he did. If anything retrospectively Rio made quite good observations.

It was fairly obvious during pre season (if not the back end of 17/18) that their season was going to be an absolute dud. In fact i thought it was going to be even worse for them then how it turned out. Edited June 29, 20197 yr by Argo

Rio is a united guy though, he was optimistic with his team, as u would expect pur players would be too, and united were 2nd the previous year. Really dont mind rio tbh, especially after seeing the documentary about him losing his wife. Money and success dont mean anything when the chips are down.
July 18, 20197 yr The Chelsea Loan Army is playing against Stade Rennais today - here is the starting line-up for Chelsea

Yep, he was the one who kept going on and on about how Kante should be playing in Jorginho's position. And he was incredulous that RLC wasn't starting (he was injured at the time). Talked up Higuain like he was a Ballon d'Or candidate. Complete garbage, no preparation, no homework done ahead of time. It was before my time, but I know he was a Chelsea player at one point, so you'd think he wouldn't be such a prick with his opinions about the club and actually care a little bit. But like you said, he is definitely a sour faced f**kwit.
July 18, 20197 yr Report out there that Fiorentina is interested in Miazga (b/c they are now American-owned) and Chelsea wants 20M euros for him. If this gambit works for Chelsea, I've got a lot of wild demands I'm going to make of my wife. :fingerscrossed:
September 2, 20196 yr 25 out on loan now, and 24 players moved on. Busy summer for the club staff working on all these deals - well done to them. Generated a fair sized war chest as well (or paid for Roman's property in Israel, depending on your point of view ? ) By my reckoning, the only players not yet sorted are Piazon and Michael Hector.

September 2, 20196 yr Saying that the loan army has reduced from 40 down to 25 with FIFA looking to curb “loan armies”. Its been a good income source but probably it’s time is up now. Kids have realised (excluding this season of course) that they won’t get a look in and we only being used to generate income. That said, we did make almost £9m profit on Pappy Dililoboji...
September 3, 20196 yr Has anyone taken the time to calculate what type of war chest we’ve built up through sales and loans this summer? Has to be north of 200m.
September 3, 20196 yr Doesn't buy you much in today's market. And I wouldn't trust our board to spend it wisely anyway, not with so many Bakayokos and Drinkwaters recently.

I think we need to temper this a bit with a realisation that not all of those fees will have been paid outright, so it may not be anything like £200m. I suppose the other side of that though is we wont be buying players outright either. Edited September 3, 20196 yr by dkw

But I still am curious to see a cut and dry “here’s how much we brought in from player sales minus the fee for Kovacic”. Like you said, not all paid outright. If options to buy are activated though, it could become a huge amount - Bakayoko alone is €40m clause.

It could be more if Monaco takes up the option to buy Bakayoko as you mention. The 192 million includes the sale of Luiz, Aina, Kalas, Omeruo as well as Hazard and Morata.
