Club finances and general CFC news

Featured Replies

Thought I'd start a thread for general news regarding the club. Here is some news recently on the club's finances. Should come as a pleasant surprise.

That’s a lot of profit if Cohen  means profit and nor revenue. Must mean revenue. Speaking as a financial analyst I wish people would be accurate with their finance language.

To be fair "earnings" can mean either gross or net, right?

Revenue less operating cost (costs of running a game) is gross margin less fixed cost (wages etc) is earnings before interest tax and depreciation. [EBITDA].

Player depreciation is likely a big non cash cost. You pay 100 m for a player for 5-7 years, have to write that investment off over that time period.

Never really studied football club finances and club valuation. If I had more time....

Is there any comparison to other clubs from the league, that would point to how the club is really standing compared to the rivals?

It is interesting to see  we needed a further loan from Abramovich of £33.8m and still made a small loss.

It's when you get see the data you realise why Marina is seen as being so determined not too overpay on signings though of course us fans forget that at times.

I was at the game yesterday and remain optimistic that we can end in the top 4. I read this thread and feel pessimistic about our finances for the future.

The only thing I would is if sold a lot of out loaned players we would have made a small profit so it's not all doom and gloom.

I still look at Leicester and think behind the scenes they have some good scouts as they are still bringing forward decent players like Chillwell and Maddison.

What makes me shake my head in disbelief the most, is the fact that the club put so much effort into getting young players, but we never bring them through into the first team or give them a chance whatsoever. Just absolute stupidness from the powers above.

Can only agree.

So you're all getting frantic over some random twatter post by a know-nothing idiot?  Did any of you actually read ANY of the rest of his/her ramblings?  The person is a complete knob.  Just ignore it and get back to the cold turkey sandwiches

Yeah I'll believe it when I see it. There isn't enough outrage about what is essentially trying to create a loophole for FIFA to act so dramatically. I'm pretty confident this will end up being a fine.

To be fair, this investigation has ramped up recently and there's been news about our signings of underage youths. The news came out about the same time as those Man City findings a month or so ago.

Ok but why water down the transfer fund by buying several very average players instead of 1 or 2 quality ones.

Cuz we seemingly need numbers, whatever the f**k that means. It wont do the squad any favours long term thats for sure.

I was thinking more about players like Sandro when we would not pay £65m
