Some of players he mentioned to be told this as Havertz, Chilwell, Mount, Gallagher and RLC. Apparently Milab have been in contact to offer just over 20mill for RLC and both City and Pool want to sign Mount, which would push his price up well past 40mill. I think the plan is to secure player values and at the same time reduce the wage bill. For example RLC is on 120kpw currently. Tie him down on a long term extension for a base salary of 70-80kpw, which has incentives based on club/player performances. This reduces the wage bill and at the same time if we want to sell RLC his value is secured and we won't have issues over clubs matching his current wage.
March 5, 20233 yr I know nothing about baseball but I understand Todd turn " Dodgers (?) from a poor team into one of the best. How was that achieved? Did he buy players etc etc ? Just curious to know how it was done and can that same intervention work at our club. I'd appreciate any info on it. Thanks

Cheers mate. It all looks positive from that article and others I just read . Hopefully it works with us too, he seems to be determined to spend to achieve it. Soon hopefully 😁

No wonder Mount's agent is digging his heels in LOL

March 6, 20233 yr Trading an old "Oldham Chronicle" about Bates, but the rest of the article was about fans. Bates made the keeper wear red because it would put strikers off ! Fans , this guy wrote , don't support clubs to bathe in glory , rather it's tribal and emotion. Oldham fans are no less passionate about the team than Chelsea and Arsenal are about theirs. He says fans want to see effort and passion on and off the pitch. They want owners to engage with fans, explain decisions and their ambitions. They don't expect unrealistic spending that could ruin a club. Above all, attractive football would attract the many fans back into the stadium. That article describes how I feel , and how millions feel thoughout the leagues. He also says many City fans still talk as much about that Gillingham win at Wembley as they do about the present ( I'm guessing this was written before Aguero !) Can't say that trophies haven't been enjoyable though, but not the reason I support our wonderful, bonkers club !
March 6, 20233 yr Matt Law reporting all the players we have signed in the past two transfer windows have incentivized contracts with Champions League exceptions. Meaning if we aren't participating in the Champions League their wages drop. Not really sure if we are the first club to start doing this but really is one of the better things Boehly has done since he's arrived.

We really shouldn't be offering Ruben a new contract at all. I'm never a fan of offering contracts to deadwood in the hope we'll be able to get a fee for them. Ruben has probably proved more than anyone that deadwood can be very hard to shift once they have years on their contracts Edited March 6, 20233 yr by TimesUpPotter

I certainly wouldn't offer him a new contract. He has had plenty of opportunity now to establish himself and, bar the odd very rare performance, he never grabs it. He is one to move on.

At the moment we're on course to save a fortune in wages! I'm all for this, in fact they shouldn't only get their performance bonus blocked, they should have a pay cut too !

I think its also telling we have managed to lure the likes of Nkunku, Enzo, Mudryk, Gvardiol, Madueke, etc on these types of deals. Also telling the likes of Gallagher, Mount, RLC, Havertz, and the other players that have contributed massively to this horrid form are reluctant to sign such deals.

Although if Ruben was content to have lower wages and have this "utility" role he seems to enjoy, I'd keep him around.

Says the captain's armband is a certainty.
March 6, 20233 yr So Boehly just want hand out players performance based contract, we won't get into CL anytime soon, so he'd save us quite a bit of money if the players sign up for it. Renew RLC be just another sign of Potter/Boehly losing the plot, with all due respect he couldn't get a game at most clubs in the league. We only play him when there are no other options

March 6, 20233 yr If Ruben gets a new deal just to be a utility player and do social media videos of him playing Fifa with the lads on the club channel then it just becomes an old boys club, we should be working on a meritocracy basis here with him and everyone ffs.

Why does everyone hate on Ruben so much. Or, why wouldn't you give a utility player who plays 25-30 games a season a new contract? Edited March 7, 20233 yr by bisright1

I think it is frustration ... he looks like he has everything in his locker to be a world beater, which raises the level of expectation to heights that Ruben can't deliver. We can blame Sarri I suppose. If he hadn't coaxed a double figure goal scoring season out of RLC, we probably wouldn't be expecting him to do so much more than he does !

Well, for one thing, we seem to be signing every young player under the sun at the minute and those guys will need match experience; we’re better off giving those minutes to them. At 27 years old he should seeking out a career defining move now, rather than be Chelsea YouTube channel Fifa player.
