Not so sure about that. Their main priority is increasing the value of the brand. For that, you need a high profile in the media, and signing a load of top players for big money is a huge part of creating the media buzz.
March 24, 20233 yr So any thoughts or odds for who our Fool is sacking today? Tea lady perhaps? Or has she already got the chop.

Not only would he be able to brand them as our own "class of 92/Busby Babes/whatever the Messi/Iniesta/Busquets Barca generation were called" the money we saved could then go for very top top tier signings like Enzo solely.

March 24, 20233 yr I wonder if Vivell will be pushing for ex RB Leipzig manager Julian to replace Potter.

Well we have replaced our groundsman with one of the best in the business. It's no secret that our pitch has had it's issues over the years, so this seems like a sensible move.

March 24, 20233 yr I think Todd trying to change the field is a good thing. The Emirates and the Bernabeu had amazing pitches

I wonder if they consider the condition of the surfaces is part of the problem we have had with injuries ? No idea if that would be the case, but I do recall injuries happening with no other player being involved, just not sure if any of them were at Stamford Bridge or Cobham ! I can also vaguely remember a couple of occasions when bad bounces were put forward as a reason for goal opportunities being missed by our forwards. Fine details and all that ...

March 25, 20233 yr I wonder if Todd will put up ticket prices next season? Be a big mistake after this season's form and a cost of living crisis I reckon

March 27, 20233 yr https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/news/chelsea-ffp-todd-boehly-transfer-26566806? Net losses of £122m announced, and we probably have no European football next season. Need to hit the ground running next season.

Net losses of £122m announced, and we probably have no European football next season. Need to hit the ground running next season. How on earth are we going to satisfy FFP requirements ? Everton just got charged by the Premier League for exceeding the limit of maximum loss of £105m over 3 years (their loss in the time period assessed was £371.8 apparently), and there is talk of potential point reduction penalties etc etc. We lost £145.6m in 20/21 despite winning the CL. Now we've just announced 122m loss for 21/22 ... so that takes us up to £267.6m across the last 2 years. Are we already in trouble, seeing as we only made a profit of £32.5m in 19/20 ? If we aren't, then surely we will be after 22/23 is announced ? The only way to comply is going to be to sell all the academy players, whose fees will account for 100% in the FFP measurement ? Sure i remember seeing something about the sale of the club and Roman writing off £1.5B of debt allowed us to spend freely with FFP. I'll try to find the link.

Loop hole now closed by UEFA so looks like we spent as much as we could, while we could. - CL money will be sorely missed. - Our squad is too big, likely to see LOTS of player outgoings in summer to balance the books. Academy players going are pure profit so will help even more (Mount/CHO). Probably see Ziyech, Lukaku, Pulisic, Kovacic, Mendy all go for decent fees.

I follow all that, but it doesn't really cover how we are going to comply with the rules ! With this rolling 3 years max loss of £105m thing, if in the last two years we have lost £267.6m, then surely this year (22/23) we will need a profit of £162.6m to comply ? No chance we will hit that, what with our current wage bill, and this year's share of the £600M transfer splurge on top of a poor season results wise ... and any summer sales would surely only count for the 23/24 P/L as well ? What am I missing LOL I suspect at the very least we will absolutely have to win the CL to maximise prize money, TV money etc etc.

If we manage to get a lot of outgoings in the summer and we get the buyer clubs to pay most of those fee's, or at least large parts of it up front then that will cover us. Saying that, its likely we will need a massive influx from selling players as we look more and more likely to miss out on top 4 and hence CL money
