Our CL tie against Dortmund only generated roughly 14m viewers whereas a Europa League tie in United vs Barca generated almost 100m viewers. It's the very reason certain clubs want the Super League and establish legacy clubs just because of the number of viewers they attract. Not really sure if our viewership has fallen or if those numbers have always been around that figure. I think that's a fair viewership number for a Chelsea vs Dortmund game. The clubs don't really have any European rivalry and it was a first-leg match.

A story I am reading this morning ... our recent £3m signing, 17 year old Jimmy-Jay Morgan, apparently had a knee problem identified IN HIS MEDICAL ... which already requires surgery (he's been flown to Los Angeles for the operation) Is common sense now dead at CFC or something ?

Are we just pumping in players into the club for the heck of it? I am okay with the Jan transfer window but come on Todd. Keep the house in order first!

I don't think he's worried about Jimmy Jay Morgan. Probably more worried about us spending endless amounts of money on players and coaches to take several steps backwards.
March 2, 20233 yr Has signing a 15 year old ever worked out? You always hear of clubs snapping up a 15 year old every season and you never hear about them again, didn't we do the same with Kakuta and Traore? Both cost us some trouble and both of them didn't turn out to be very good players. Edited March 2, 20233 yr by Victor90
March 2, 20233 yr I have this feeling that the owners will use the next 2 or 3 summer windows to sell of some of our youth players to offset FFP, especially if the links to 180mill Euro Oshiman and 110mill Euro Gvardiol have anything in them. I can see basically every youth player bar James being up for grabs, and possibly even players like Chilwell (who becomes more FFP valuable to sell as his contract runs down). And when you look at a conservative estimate of what they could get for selling these players you would see why: Mount 35mill Gallagher 40mill (Everton offered that already) Colwill 30mill Chalobah 30mill Broja 25mill Maatsen 15mill Chilwell 50mill Appart from Ben that is all 100% FFP profit.

No way Mount would be less than Gallagher. I'd be surprised if Mount was less then £60M, and I'd think we'd be asking for 75+.
March 2, 20233 yr I’m shocked he valued Mount at 35m! He’s one of our best players, he’s worth more than double that.

If Harry Maguire can go for 85 million then Mount (even with one year left) will definitely go for more than 30. I honestly think we could get a combined 100 million from Mount and Gallagher

Spent 17m on a Brazalian wonder kid that now can't get a work permit When will it end. I am convinced Boehly is intent in pulling away from our collective Sky agreement to negotiate his own television rights with the fking Comedy Central.

Talking of actual comedians I've watched a few episodes of "Welcome to Wrexham", and have to say I've been impressed with the way that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have run things since they took over. I know Wrexham is a different level in terms of their league etc. but the new owners did the basic things right. They first hired the right people to run the football decisions as they were humble enough to admit they knew very little about the sport. Then they had those people identify the right choice of manager, and they also targeted a goal scorer (Paul Mullin) as their first major signing. Got to wonder how different things might have looked had our new owners decided on similar first steps.

I've forgotten now - who was our last regular goal scorer and when did they leave? How many goal scorers have we had come and fail? Is there something else wrong at Chelsea that prevents "goal scorers" from... scoring?
March 2, 20233 yr I watched some of the 'welcome to Wrexham'. Although it doesn't show everything, looked like Reynolds and the other guy are pretty humble and honest about they don't know much about football, let alone running the club. They hired people who knew football, got the fans on board, and invest based on advice. It does help to get people on your side when you are the Deadpool, but you still got go about it with humanity and empathy. If my memory is correct, they hired this manager who's proven and managed teams in higher leagues, so it's not just blind faith.

We are 're-signing' Jimmy Jay Morgan. He was originally a Chelsea player, then he left us to join Southampton and now we are buying him back. Also. . . .Chelsea close in on a new wonder kid. Independiente del Valle's Ecuadorian midfielder Kendry Paez [15] will join Chelsea when he is 18. He looks great in his video. Hopefully this one will be able get a work permit. In a few years.

Yes they managed to get Phil Parkinson who famously managed Bradford when they knocked us out of the cup. He also took Bradford to the the League Cup final a few years earlier. Quite impressive to convince him to join a non-league club.
