I have to agree. The fans aren't happy about this, especially given the target was top four. I support the board generally, but on this one they have f**ked up. Chasing the no.1 target for months and letting him go to a direct rival because of haggling over price.

Our American owners keep on delivering I see. Hilarious that it looks like we've spent a zillion dollars and ended up with a worse team than when we started.

I wish Pochettino luck.

Yeah it does feel that way currently.

The make up of the squad is very different now though, lower wages and young players.

If a few of these kids - Jackson, Mudueke, Sancho, Carny etc - turn into top level players then they will probably be praised.

We have gambled hugely on our scouting team’s talent spotting.

The kids were cooking in preseason. I actually see the team a step up in terms of age and potential

Looks like Bully and his pal Ebghali may just get the deal done. I know bc bin dippers came in at the 11th hour lot of posters are caught up in a gazump of them rather than the issue here which is further gross incompetency in the transfer market again. we were told the DOF were handling transfers but alas the people appointed to that role by Bully & Co are even more hapless than Bully & co at recruitment. If Caciedo & Favia sign the squad is still lacking an elite 20 goal + season striker and an elite goalie after a very substantial investment on playing staff over 3 windows.

Caciedo a player they went on record saying no more than 85 mill will we pay, now they’re at 30 mill more. Winkers not winners.

But surely if  Winstanley and co. had been given the nod by Boehly to pay what Brighton wanted  it would have been done weeks ago ? I assume the transfer team work under some limits and restrictions imposed by the owners ?

I don't think there can be a fixed set of rules to follow when it comes to transfers. The situations are very dynamic and change almost on a daily basis as there are many variables involved ( the player himself, his agent, both negotiation teams, the club's owners, rival clubs, etc). I think it's a case of everyone involved at our club took things for granted because it was essentially a one-horse race. There was no competition till 2 days ago and we were just waiting for brighton to accept whatever we deemed good enough and we panicked when scousers put in that mega bid.

No matter where caicedo ends up, we will know the complete story when details of everything going on behind the scenes are eventually revealed.

Exactly. There seems to be some sort of fantasy that S&W operate in isolation. Blame them, sack them. FFS. How naïve are some people? With the sums involved there would be constant liaison within the hierarchy.

they don't understand FFP and amortisation

f**k Felix , he knows f**k all . Every club is looked at for FFP ,  I don't believe another football club would be able to get evidence that EUFA and the PL didn't get .

How come Felix knows this but zilch on the radio football talk programmes?

f**k him

Only Liverpool lmao

How bad does that look, they only do this after a result they didn't want and a player they didn't get. Talk about throwing your toys out the pram.

If it's true then yeah.

But I seriously doubt a Twitter guy knows this but the real media are not on it at all .

He's a f**king wind up and blocks anyone who calls him out

So as he saunters towards a Billion in Spends, we haven’t bothered to try and buy a recognised striker, maybe he that much ahead of the modern game, he Poo poos the need for a Haaland type…

Saw a few sources on Twitter saying it, but then again, sh*t follows sh*t so wouldn't shock me. But it definitely wouldn't shock me if Liverpool complained either.

Quick, cancel the Caicedo transfer as Liverpool have reported us.  Oh wait, thats why we have lawyers and a longer term plan.  Skysports has a pretty good visual also - granted Liverpool are going back to spend since last summer.  Sore losers really.

It's not fair everyone picks on scousers, nothings ever our fault, the worlds against us. Sore losers, Simon Jordan explained it very well, there could be problems in the future, if things go wrong with the plan.

The only worry about the 8 year contract is the player itself.

You could get a situaton like Lukaku, Bakayoko where they are either not good enough or don't want to play for the club. The player holds the power unless there's some clause, or a player could get a major injury which they never fully recover from.

You'd hope one of the big things the recruitment team looks for in a player is their attitude and personality.

I also don't think there's any point looking into the FFP stuff, some kid on twitter won't explain it to you or some random guy like myself on a forum won't. If there's that amount of money shifted around and deals to be made then the only people who will know what's going on are the ones who are making the deals and the premier league/uefa.

Yet only Twitter accounts who need clicks for income are in the know..

If we had info that anyone else had cheated we would do the same, but it's all click bait , I don't believe any of it ,
