What? We've been fantastic after the opening 15 minutes we needed to settle in.

Kovacic especially is playing like a true midfield maestro.

Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic is going to be a solid midfield this season.

 

Abraham needs to work on staying onside. He's been offside a lot this half.

a few of our guys have been a bit off but Kovacic and Pulisic have worked well together - hopefully a promising sign

First Half

The Good:

Pulisic - 2 good finishes, causing them problems down the left
Barkley - Well taken pen, good link-up play, excellent pass for the 3rd goal
 

The So-So:

Abraham - Just isn't doing enough up there
Jorginho - He's getting closed down very quickly so is struggling to find passes

The Bad:

Defence - We look very sloppy at the back, players misplacing passes all the time, leaving gaps, getting overrun with attackers (they seem to be passing it through Jorginho and Kovacic pretty easily right into the back 4)

To be fair only 1 of our first choice back four is starting, cannot expect the backups to be as good.

 

Am sure with Rudiger, Christensen and James Emerson will look a lot better and so will we.

Got to add we are doing this away vs a fellow CL team and Europa semi finalists of two years ago who are further ahead in preparation. 

There will be growing pains this season but when it clicks like it did in that 10 minutes not many teams will be able to live with us.

Barkley looks different class today, he’s thriving in that #10 spot this pre-season. Hopefully carries that form into the season.

Pulisic has been great too, those runs in behind have been quality and his close control is impressive.

The approach play has been interesting to watch, the speed we’re getting the ball into the opposition half has been really noticeable. Quite happy to ping 40/50 yard balls forward from deep and let the wingers cause problems.

I would expect Azpilicueta, Luiz and Emerson to be in the first choice.

I like the way we're mixing up the attacks, it looks like lampard is allowing the m more freedom of choice and not demanding they only play short passes all the time. And after the last 3 friendlies there's no doubt we're moving the ball forward much quicker and more direct.
