I can understand that they want to do anything they can to qualify for Champions League. Beyond that they have a player that wants to leave the club regardless of CL qualification and he only has two years left on his contract. We are offering the highest price they are going to get this summer with 70mil + bonuses, if they wait they risk his price dropping by half and one of their rivals buying him instead. I don't see the logic in keeping an unhappy player and they might not even be abel to play him if Corona shuts everything down agan.

Plus if he stays another year by next summer he will have one year left on his contract so clubs can stick it to them and low ball with the pretence that look if you don’t cash in now as say 50 million he will leave next year in a free.

So the reality is if he won’t renew his contract and I doubt he would or they could afford what his agent would insist on then this summer is the last chance to get a high fee.

They know they will sell to us and we know they will sell to us it’s just a game of will can blink first with 10 mil higher than we want to pay or 10 mil less than they want to get.

They want 90 we want to pay 70 it’s not rocket science, 80 cash or 70 with 20 in performance based add ons, the deal is there to be done. 

If he stays 1 more year there, he will go to Bayern for free basically lmao I don't think they would be happy with that!

Honestly we were in Bayer's shoes 2 years ago.

We kept Hazard, our star man, even though we knew he would not sign a  new deal. Some would say it was foolish as it would affect his value.

If Kai is as good as people make out then Bayer first and foremost should keep him for the EL. He greatly increases their chances to win and get CL football.

Also if he is that good then there will be takers next season and they will get a very good price. Not 100mill like they want now but close, like we got close to the 150mill for hazard.

    If they win the Europa league the price will go up but I can’t see Rangers stopping them going to the final. 
    It is last 16 stage (second legs) atm. So they still have some stages to reach the final.

    Slightly different scenario, from ive read Havertz asked to leave last summer, and Bayer persuaded him to stay for another year. They have already indicated to him he would be allowed to leave this window. 

    Its rare clubs can squeeze 2 years out of players that want to leave. 

    I think it will be done within the next couple of weeks. We have the final tomorrow, and then we are headed to Germany. So im sure Cech, and Marina will perhaps go a few days earlier to try and get it over the line.

    That would be amazing, but it sounds like the announcement might need to wait until after the Europa League campaign ends for Leverkusen.

    Thats what Leverkusen wants, but Werner left his own team without finishing CL knockout so...

    Not that it ever was, but certainly shows money won’t be an issue if he chooses to invest it into the club.

    Thing to keep in mind is although they are a selling club they are very well financed they are owned and founded by one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world.

    Having learned this I think they might be able to drag this out more that initially expected. 

    They may not care about taking the hit next year as much as other non elite clubs would. 

    I’ve seen reported that Chelsea’s initial bid was for £50M + £10M in add ons... if true they are clearly trying to come in lower than the £90M asking price and hoping to settle in the middle around £75M
