I’ve seen reported that Chelsea’s initial bid was for £50M + £10M in add ons... if true they are clearly trying to come in lower than the £90M asking price and hoping to settle in the middle around £75M

Media likely guessing and given Marina reputation as a tough negotiator not hard to write such a piece.

Coming in at 50m is a bit of a joke surely? No way are Leverkusen taking that seriously, but I guess its just some sort of tactic used by Marina

Still a huge amount of money for someone that came through the youth ranks for nothing ... and especially so in a "covidly challenged" market 🙂

I imagine it gets done at around £70-75M ...

I expected some real stuff this week, seems like we're trying to pay less...

But I'm guessing that Havertz will be our record transfer fee when it's done so it maybe takes more time...

True, but yeah I agree with you. 70-75m plus add ons sounds about right

Literally nothing Droopy is just having a moment to himself if anything Bayern have made clear not in the market for him, we are the only ones, they will take 70 plus add ons, that much seems clear.

let’s at least pay more than kepa just so that wally isn’t our record signing

why, whats happened now?

Nothing at all, Droopy is just another one of those who believes everything the news websites tell him and then overreact. I think he would do better on social media.

More i think about this the more i'm looking forward to seeing him and Mount together, they compliment each others skillsets perfectly.

More like Havertz-Kovacic as the 2 8's

Given he has 2 years left on his deal and has made his desire to leave quite clear the fact this isn’t done yet makes me wonder if we’re stalling until a little later in the window? In theory the further into the window we go his value decreases by a few £m. I suppose that could also be a tactic on his/his agents part, so other teams may come back into the picture?

Hazard announced he signed for us the day after we won the CL.

Hopefully Havertz signs the moment we lift the FA cup 19/20 trophy

Might as well go at it and hope he signs the moment we lift the UCL 19/20 trophy

I would imagine the fact that it’s gone quiet for a few days and we haven’t really heard anything is because the teams may be actually negotiating in the background. I believe the fact that the only suitor is Chelsea will make this take longer because Chelsea wants to leverage that to make it cheaper, and Bayern Leverkusen is going to try and drag every penny out of them by making Chelsea think they will just keep him. Another team getting involved would force action, but would drive up the price.

I still think this ultimately gets done, it’s just going to take a little more time.

I would think we want him in the squad as soon as possible. The new season starts already 12.9. If we want him as a starter we need him ASAP with the team.

For sure, we have about a month until the new season, so we need to get signings done as soon as possible. There is a lot of work that needs to be done in bringing in players and also players leaving

No doubt the team wants him in as early as possible, but perhaps they feel they can save £10-£20M by doing some negotiating, I would imagine the savings is more important to them than the extra week.

Specially since Havertz doesn't press as much as Mount but can make the final ball at any moment.

Need to hurry up though before Dortmund uses the Sancho funds to buy him

To be honest,I would have thought they would get it done, holding on can always backfire.

I saw an analysis of him and he is pretty good at getting the ball back. No one is probably as impressive as Mount in pressing players.
