A league match in June.... on a Thursday.........at 8-15 KO.......the World has turned upside down.

Are you sure you’ve got this right? We know what you’re like :blush2:

Has to be a 3-4-3 in the next two games to give us a chance.  Playing 2 apart is just asking to picked apart by City & Vardy.

I will go with

                             Kepa

           Azpi            Rudiger         Christensen

James        Barkley/Kovacic  Kante     Alonso

          Willian                        Mount

                          Giroud

If we win this, it's likely that will mean Liverpool are officially champions.

Would be interesting as that would be the second time we've won the title for another team recently.

Who knows honestly. Depends on how we turn up and whether we try and press City or play smart and sit deeper.

It's a myth that it's best to sit back against City, they will mentally and physically wear you down to the point your seeing stars. No manager since Hiddink 11 years ago has managed to successfully tame a Pep side playing pragmatic tactics.

We've gone toe to toe with them and played our football ever since Sarri has come in and while it spectacularly backfired once the other three times we've looked every bit an equal to them which is very impressive given we're nowhere near such at the minute.

We were actually good in the first game against them despite losing, and I suspect it'll be a similar story this time around as well, depending on our starting XI.

Pulisic should start over Giroud, and if Ruben's going to start i'd rather him start in MF. Kante should be deep to clear up any issues in midfield.

Barkley over Kovacic and Pulisic over Willian and I can see us score a goal with that line-up

Giroud absolutely must play, he simply converts chances like no one else in our squad right now. His hold up play might be useful for counters as well, in fact city might suit him a lot better in that sense than deep-lying villa did.

Tammy looked all over the place in his few minutes yesterday. He will need to be eased into the team again, but not against city.

I agree Pulisic should start, but it should be over RLC or Willian, depending on the formation.

Citehs's second string team demolished Burnley. Not for the first time Mahrez made it look like the other side didn't have a left full back and Foden looks a real player.

Our defence will be hopelessly exposed in this game. If we shift Dave to left back then Reece will get killed on the other side. If we play 5 in defence then we can only play two midfielders when that is our strength in depth. Being a defensive person myself I'd prefer to sit back and try  and catch on the break but if they have a weakness its their defence.

I guess I'd go with

Dave Christenson Rudigier Alonso (but its so weak)

Kante Jorginho Kovacic

Pulisic Tammy Mount (I think Mount will be played for defence work rate)

Ah I seem to recall Conte beating them brilliantly countering rather recently.

If we press the way we have pressed all year which is inconsistent with front and midfield too far from the defence we'll be torn apart same as Sarri was.

I'm not advocating for full on catenaccio. Just saying we need to be sensible.

Oh god I meant to say Willian and not Giroud! Giroud should definitely start, Willian needs to get benched for Pulisic

Yeah but we had a solid plan to hurt them in attack that didn't revolve around set pieces and rub of the green, the following season we set out to just sit back against them and look what happened (that game in Manchester was the moment I fully turned against Conte, the most humiliating moment as a Chelsea fan bar none, yes even over that 6-0).

I just don't think sitting back with these group of players will help.

Last time our 433 didn't work out.

We could go back to the 4231 with Mount playing in the middle and Pulisic on the left.

Kepa

James Zouma Rudi Azpi

Kante Gilmour

Willian Mount Pulisic

Giroud

sub in Jorghy,RLC,Tammy and get a result out of it.

Our squad as it is right now simply can't park the bus and Lampard knows it. We need keep doing what Lampard wants and here is a post to back up this view:

Agree! Solskjær has mastered this in big games with Utd. Let them control possession but hit them hard and fast when you win the ball back.

4 at the back and we are just begging to get mauled, has to be 5 at the back. If he insists on playing Jorginho, it’s a 3-5-2 and we match them in the middle whilst protecting him. If he starts on the bench, it’s 3-4-3.

I see it the same and as well as our defenders being dodgy Kante has worried me earlier the season when he is closed down.

If we go aggressive then Kante complements that yet not where space is going to be tight, IMO.
