June 16, 20233 yr Once Man City start throwing their weight around there's only one winner. Play for Pep in the treble winning team, or for Captain Scarlet and his bottlers with one of the most toxic fan bases going. Just depends if the interest is genuine, or if it's just a way for West Ham to get Arsenal to hurry up and stop lowballing....
June 16, 20233 yr Think City is getting back at Arsenal for the smart business they did last summer. I don't see how City needs a Rice, after securing Kovacic ( or is that in doubt now). Jack up the price, get Arsenal to pay the 10-15M extra, why not
June 22, 20233 yr Top two clubs in England now gunning for Rice. Crazy. I thought he was massively overrated and no club would spend more than £30m on him 🤣
June 22, 20233 yr Yup. City capable of blowing them out of the water. Rice has said he wants to stay in London. This could test his postcode preference.

June 22, 20233 yr They already sold Party, right? So they are in a bit of trouble if Rice bid fails. Man city doesn't need Rice, but they could just to land a punch on Arsenal before the season starts.

Rice has said numerous times he much prefers staying in london as well another example being maddison.. offers from both spurs and newcastle. Literally everything points to newcastle being the much better option to join, but because he wants to be in london so bad spurs are looking more likely for him to join.

If Rice goes to Arsenal now it shows he has no ambition.

You back yourself to play in the best team for the best manager and with the best team mates in a side that aims to win every trophy. Or you go be a big fish in a small pond. And the pond's fans are deluded weirdos.

So basically, if you’re good and believe you’re good, then you can only sign for City to guarantee that you’ll win everything. Anyone who agrees to sign for Arsenal or us, or anyone else is basically saying “I’ve no ambition and I’m not actually that good and I’ll just sign for Chelsea because I’m ok with not winning anything whilst playing for the best manager. I’ll just take the money to piss about at Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford or wherever.

They've had their first good season in years and still won f**k all. We've been winning things for years even when we haven't challenged for titles we win big trophies. What have Arsenal done since they last won a title? Won 4 FA Cups and that's it. Players come here knowing that they can win silverware because there's evidence that we have, and a lot of it. Despite all the excitement and leading the race for 80% of the time, Arsenal actually gave City the easiest run to the title, City won with 3 games to spare. Arsenal won nothing in the season, and dropped out of every competition as early as they possibly could. If Rice is serious about winning, he'd be mental to pick Arsenal over City. Our record over the last 10-15 years in winning trophies have been way better Arsenal. Although it may take a season or two to be back to business as usual, I reckon we will win the next cup before they do.
June 27, 20233 yr It wouldn’t surprise me if Pep walked away after the end of the coming season rather than the season after when his contract ends. It seems many of City’s players initially struggle to play in Pep’s system and end up not playing much in their first season. I also think City won’t be the force they’ve been the last 5 years especially if Silva leaves as well as Gundogan. Rice wants to stay in London and Arteta really wants him. Arsenal are spending pretty big so it’s a team that looks like it could get better whereas City are coming to the end of a cycle especially as Pep has said he won’t be signing another contract. Personally I’m still not sure if Rice is as good as others think he is. Edited June 27, 20233 yr by 19seventyone

They have produced one of the biggest title bottle jobs in PL and it's getting casually brushed under the carpet because "young team". It's almost as if Edu and Arteta created a ready made excuse. I think even now we can attract better players than Arsenal, despite them having their best season in almost 20 years and us having our worst season in what? 30? Just because our track record is far better. If we do a poll on who is more likely to next win a League Title or Champions League out of Chelsea and Arsenal, only Arsenal fans would say Arsenal. They'll probably finish higher than us again next season just due to how much changes our squad will go through but I still can't see them winning anything.
