January 18, 20242 yr I think Jack has a point, Chillys best performances came at LWB with 3 defenders at the back. It's different. But I can't agree with Lewis Hall putting in better performances, I think Chilwell is more than capable of being a good LB when fit. But it's the "when" that's the problem, he can never stay fit.

To be honest the Robertson comparison is a great example I never actually considered. Take away VVD, Robertson would be a decent LB given how average he is defensively. It's the same as how I view Chilwell. Runs up and down that left flank, times his runs beautifully, but his defensive game is left to be desired. Chilwell also looks lost in certain build up phases but I'm willing to put that down on Potter as everyone looked clueless. I'd much like to see Colwill/Badiashile at LCB with Chilwell at LB, but this solves only one issue. The other is the disjointed midfield we've been seeing for quite some time. January 18, 20242 yr Given his wages and injury record, I woild not be surprised if the owners look to sell Chilli. What does she have left on his FFP book value? 20 mill? Easily get that.

I still find it bizarre he wouldn’t play him there.
January 22, 20242 yr chilwell who? guy has been beset with injury, not sure he'll stay injury free either. Move on in summer. Bring in or promote someone who is capable of playing football consistently over a season. If we dont see Rece James again this season, I'd be pushing him out the club too
January 24, 20242 yr Been missing him and Reece all season, god i hope he's recovered properly this time.
January 24, 20242 yr I thought he had a great game. First half he was energetic going forward and defensively sound too. Considering he was covering for the diabolical Mudryk too it was a very positive first game back. Fingers crossed he stays fit this time...
January 26, 20242 yr We need Ben tomorrow. We need to get past Villa. If Poch is concerned about his recovery leave him at home for the Liverpool away game. Villa is more important imo.

January 31, 20242 yr Will forever be a huge mystery to me why this guy is so highly rated, rated as one of the best but Marcos Alonso supposedly wasn't and the fans wanted him sold and not good enough. In 4 years of Chilwell apart from pace i still struggle to tell you what hes better at than Alosno
January 31, 20242 yr Not a great performance going forward but I wouldn't single him out for any of the 2 goals while he was still on the pitch.

January 31, 20242 yr Very good player. Awful half of football away at the league leaders in a side that was poorly set up.

January 31, 20242 yr He’s a good player but his mistakes are exasperated by the dross that’s around him.

That’s the icing on the cake. this guy has had so few good performances in nearly 4 years, I nearly reckon Barkley had as many and he got his contract terminated. To be fair to him some of his good performances did come in the 2021 champions league run but it’s a seriously long time ago now. I think he’s greatly benefited off being injured at the same time as James who is quality player and the two of them are grouped together as quality players when in reality only James is

Bizarre people are trying to blame Chilwell for those goals. Those turnovers happen multiple times a game. It was poor defending all around. Edited February 1, 20242 yr by Remodez

Ideally Chilwell wouldn't have been starting tonight after his injury layoffs. He needed to be gradually eased back into the team, and certainly not starting his first game in a while at in-form Liverpool. I think Colwill would have started if fit.
