January 3, 20242 yr Would love to get excited about his return, but like James, it just feels like he is going to be injured again in a few weeks.
January 3, 20242 yr I wonder if Poch will play him at left back at any point ? Colwill was starting there ahead of Chilly even when Chilwell was fit at the beginning of the season.

January 4, 20242 yr Chilwell is not a winger. He is a good premier league full back when fit. Even Poch will see that. Plus it will free up Colwill to play his proper position. That is until Chiller gets injured again.

Poch was still picking Colwill ahead of him at left back.

January 4, 20242 yr Be great to see him back. Against the so called lesser sides, there is no reason we can’t play both Chilwell and Gusto with a more progressive full back setup. This also creates the chance for Colwill to start in his more natural CB position, if picked. However, I think the problem is we lack height. Take Colwill out, plus Jackson and Broja, and the rest aren’t particularly tall outside of Badiashile or Disasi (Silva has a great jump). Tuchel figured this out as his midfield wasn’t particularly big in Jorginho, Kova and Kante. Anyway, I digress. Encouraging news, and fingers crossed we start to play our best players in their best positions.

January 4, 20242 yr I swear if Poch puts him on the wing again I'll... well, i'll do nothing except complain on here, but still. Edited January 4, 20242 yr by Zeta

January 13, 20242 yr Unlike others I have no problem with Chilwell coming on at left wing to see the game out. When you are as inept as we are at scoring goals you can't really blame the manager for playing it safe. My only problem has been when he starts him at left wing at the expense of Mudyrk, etc.

We could have used him as a left back and reverted to a back five but I'm never keen on changing the defensive formation so late in the game.

If he had switched to a back 3 and put Chilwell at wing back, I think that would have eased the pressure a bit.

Thing is, we have already tried this before and it didn't make any difference in terms of pressure faced so I don't blame Poch for sticking to his usual formation.
January 13, 20242 yr Chilwell came in and gave us so much composure. Simple on touch game bring other into play. Palmer and Madueke on the other hand 😭😭😭😭
