Poch gonna play him at LW anyway

You would think he isn’t that crazy. He finally gets Murdyk into a lil bit of form, playing Chilwell ahead of him will just be ridiculous.

Chilwell is not a winger. He is a good premier league full back when fit. Even Poch will see that. Plus it will free up Colwill to play his proper position. That is until Chiller gets injured again.

He was fit at the beginning of the season, and was even made vice captain. Poch was still picking Colwill ahead of him at left back.

Be great to see him back. Against the so called lesser sides, there is no reason we can’t play both Chilwell and Gusto with a more progressive full back setup. This also creates the chance for Colwill to start in his more natural CB position, if picked.

However, I think the problem is we lack height. Take Colwill out, plus Jackson and Broja, and the rest aren’t particularly tall outside of Badiashile or Disasi (Silva has a great jump). Tuchel figured this out as his midfield wasn’t particularly big in Jorginho, Kova and Kante.

Anyway, I digress. Encouraging news, and fingers crossed we start to play our best players in their best positions.

Agree, although I would argue that Chilwell looks decent in the air (but not as good as Alonso).

I want to believe, really want to believe, he only did that because Mudryk was injured and Madueke wasn't fit.

Yes that was my hope too. If Chilwell is fit he should be our first choice at LB.

If you push the two fb higher, silva is not playable even against the worse team in PL.

Unlike others I have no problem with Chilwell coming on at left wing to see the game out. When you are as inept as we are at scoring goals you can't really blame the manager for playing it safe.

My only problem has been when he starts him at left wing at the expense of Mudyrk, etc.

I was fine with it too. We were hanging on and Mudryk would have offered nothing defensively.  We could have used him as a left back and reverted to a back five but I'm never keen on changing the defensive formation  so late in the game.

You anticipating Chilwell starting at LB at all?

I don't think that was playing it safe though, we could barely keep hold of the ball. If he had switched to a back 3 and put Chilwell at wing back, I think that would have eased the pressure a bit.

Thing is, we have already tried this before and it didn't make any difference in terms of pressure faced so I don't blame Poch for sticking to his usual formation.
