The end is misleading, Lampard didn't abandon the youth. Chelsea lost 2 wingers Pedro and Willian, bought Ziyech as 1 replacement and Werner, there was a real need for a proper left-back and keeper as well. Havertz is 21 years old only, Lampard improved the team and loaned out Barkley and Loftus-Cheek but kept Mount and Gilmour while making Reece James a standard right-back ahead of Azpilicueta. A player like Ampadu was on loan even before Lampard so no, this doesn't mean that Lampard abandoned the youth, he has been involving the youth as much as he could, Tammy, Mount, James are clear examples.

Takes me back to watching the FA Cup Final on a black and white TV. I think that at school me and a mate of mine who I still see at the Bridge were the only Chelsea fans in my year. On Tuesday am having a zoom meeting with some old school friends. One of them is a Leeds fan so hopefully I'll be able to give him some stick.
