Chelsea v Fulham (PL) Sat 1st May 2021 17:30 GMT

I'm sure it's because Kovacic won't make Real Madrid and a injury to either Kante or Jorginho would be catastrophic so it's safest to rest both of them.

In the old days socks were irrelevant, proven by the fact they were rolled down out of the way, not to be seen, pulling your socks up fully was like full kit w**kerdom.

I worry that people keep underestimating the significance of socks, most importantly blue ones. It has been shown beyond a reasonable doubt that we have won 117,3% of our matches in the last 5,23 seasons when wearing blue socks.

Hopefully Werner is playing the 9 and is flanked by havertz and Werner

It would be better, but I expect it will be same old same old from Tuchel. Havertz marked out of it by 2/3 centre backs and fighting to get on the end of crosses. Total waste.

Really like this line up Kante and Jorgehh need a rest for the week ahead. Playing the 5 natural defenders means the midfield should get some help. Will be interesting to see what we can do with all these creative players on show.

Fingers crossed TT gets it right again. I hope we play a really entertaining and attractive attacking display today with our usual defensive cutting edge under Tommy 2 cool.

2-0 win, CHO to score first.

Come on, my son, time for you to step up and get yourself in the starting line-up.

No CHO so it’s going my way then, Havertz to score the first of two in the 25th.

Not a fan of Mount in the pivot though. It would have been better to play Gilmour with either Kante or Jorginho and then sub one for the other at half time

The plan to play Mount in the midfield is obviously to ask the defense of Fulham more questions than with Kante and Jorginho.

The trade-off is that the own defense will probably not be so solid as usual.

Anyways Tuchel is trying to find the solution how to break down lower ranked Premier League teams.

No CHO. Bugger. That means I have to hope for a substitution due to injury for him to score in the 32nd minute, and that would get me slaughtered here.

Also for those worrying about Tammy. I think minimum he gets 20 mins this game I would be very surprised if he's not on by the 70th minute.

I don't know what the idea behind starting Werner over Tammy is in a game like this. Werner should have been rested for the second leg against Real and Tammy deserves a start after all these weeks sidelined.

First time working a saturday in about 18 months, luckily I got finished and home with plenty of time to spare. Now I got some serious drinking to do to get up to my usual amount of beer before a 5:30 saturday kick off

We don't really rely on crosses under Tuchel though. Worked more than well enough v Everton, Atletico, Porto and Palace so don't see why it couldn't today!

Great to see Gilmour, not sure about Mount in the midfield. But it is a strong starting lineup so it’s up to the players to deliver the three points.

We still have 5 natural defenders on so I'm not too concerned and because of Ziyech and Havertz naturally tendency to drop deep it's like we're playing a minimum of 3 midfielders so I don't feel to concerned about Billy and Mason in the pivot together they should have plenty of defensive help. I'm more interested to see how many attacking moves they can start.

This is a huge chance for Billy to show Thomas his quality and become a main squad rotation/starter next season.

I assume it is to give him some extra practice with Kai and Hakim going into Wednesday. I'm not certain Mason will start mid week even though I think he played well in the first leg.

Tommy may be looking to get the Ziyech-Werner connection ready for the mid week again after all its all about that chemistry in attack. If we have it on Wednesday and defend well we should hopefully win.

Team selection shouldn't but does make me nervous.  In the PL Mount and Gilmour get bullied in the middle.  Relying on wingbacks to make that a solid midfield.

Need goals, and early ones at that.  Clearly saving our most important players relative to depth/availability for Madrid.

Any chance it might be 4-3-3, with Christensen as a holding midfielder. Tuchel did mention they worked on 4-3-3 in the lead up to the first Real match, didn't he? Seems strange to have a pivot of Gilmour and Mount, especially after talking up the fitness of Jorginho and Kanté.

Not sure about mount in a 2 man midfield. But, it looks like it was going to be too much asking for jorginho and kante to be playing again after 2 games in 7days and with Madrid and city next.

Cannot say TT is not taking this very seriously.

Gilmour gets the start we have all wanted. Really he has only rested Pulisic, Dave, Kante and Jorgi of his first choice players. I reckon had Rudgier not been injured he would play too. Strong team.

Strong team which should see us get the win.  Minorly worried about the midfield pairing but hoping for a big game from the 2 of them to prove me wrong.

Last time Mount couldn't do much playing deeper so I'm a bit worried...

He’s got a proper midfielder with him this time though, not that useless Brazitalian bloke who only passes sideways/backwards/out of play.
