Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!

When someone's first thought is to have a moan about a player after a good team performance against Spurs, I'm sorry but that's just sad.

Enjoy the moment, especially after a rough couple of months in the league.

To each their own though I suppose.

It's happened many times 'immediately' after a win/good performances in the Saul, Jorginho, Luiz, Alonso and Willian threads to little or no objections.

Jimmy-Floyd knows, people can't blame others for Lukaku's lack of movement.

Roy Keane was asked what's happening with Lukaku and he just patted his stomach.

Come on mate this is the place to come and have a moan, we wouldn't survive if moaning was banned.

You must admit Romelu has been underwhelming in the 6 months so far, not just the lack of goals, but lazy work rate, not winning hardly any headers, and worst of all his lack of movement in the box.

Apart from that i can't moan.

Yup, it is indeed the place. But immediately after a game we've just won?

The threads of players who played well and did their part were without posts but others were quick to rush to have whinge about Lukaku.

Just don't understand why chewing out a player takes precedence in the immediate after winning a contested win.

It happened in the Saul thread after the Villa game with someone saying "thankgod it's only a loan" around 15 minutes after the match yet I didn't see you acting as a lawyer on his behalf then. I'm sure if i bothered to look I could find many examples of Willian, Luiz, Jorginho and Alonso amoung others being criticised after a win aswell.

Why is it one rule for the record signing and another for a loanee?

Did you not see encouraging signs yesterday though? Everyone keeps harping on about Romelu's work-rate but he put a shift in yesterday, he was part of a fluid attack and did well holding the ball up for us and laying it off to Ziyech and others on occasion. He can become much better but there were good signs as far as i'm concerned.

Better than usual (and hopefully this is Tuchel finding a way to fit Lukaku in and keep the team playing well as opposed to Spurs being Spurs) but a very long way to go until his untouchable spot is justified.

A few of us have pointed that out. He does not look the lean machine he looked in Italy or even did when we played Arsenal.

Apparently Conte controlled what he eat, and what he did not. Without Conte maybe he does not have the discipline to eat properly for a top level athlete.

This thread has 65 pages from May to Dec 30th when the Sky Italia interview hit, that's 65 pages in 210 days, = 0.3 pages per day.

Since Dec 30th this thread has had 47 pages in 25 days, = 1.88 pages per day

I don't know what it all means but I'm sure that the interview showed that many people do care about the full picture of a player and not just about his skills with the ball, after all this is a people's game.

It means patients in Romelu is wearing thin with a lot of fans.

I think this is the main point that is being missed.

There's a reason Werner is adored despite things not working out (yet).

Yep the same happened with Torres and Crespo.

Even Big Roms body language yesterday seemed to be blaming others, albeit sometimes justified.

I still can't believe he had the gall to moan at Callum for not passing him after failing to connect with a perfect cross seconds before.

And if that wasn't enough, he then proceeded to stand offside for a few seconds when we were still on the attack.

The phrase “more front than Brighton” springs to mind.

Ironic, because if he’d shown a bit of front against Brighton(and all the rest), then he wouldn’t be on the end of such a much merited slagging off.

Lol come on now you surely can believe it.

Nobody would give a sh*t about the interview if he could walk the walk. Problem is he talks sh*t without backing it up on the pitch.

That is true but with that said I do think if the interview never had happened that maybe there would be less talk about him too, after all it was after the interview that this thread blew up. For example I did comment prior to his injury when at the time he had about 5 games without scoring it was just 1 comment or so and it wasn't that many comments about his input but back then Lukaku was still going under the radar. Maybe also due to us having better results in general so there could be many more factors but after the interview things changed and now I'm sure many want to see what he can do in every game he plays where it's not just his goals or shots that are in focus but also his attitude and body language too.

In comparison it took more time for me to notice that Morata wasn't that comfortable in the league but even so it was clear to me that he did try his best.
I'm sure that the whole situation with Conte complaining about his players also played a role there and definitely didn't boost Morata's confidence but only after things started looking worse and worse it was clear for everyone that Morata is just falling too much and having a sad face, but that was a reaction when a player is aware of his short-comings.
Lukaku never gives you the impression that he's aware that maybe it's him not doing that well.

Can we dangle Lukaku in front of Newcastle and see if they bite?

I’ll take 60m for him, sod the losses, accept we made an awful mistake, get rid and try again.

You’d take how much? If it was down to me, I’d pay them to take the lazy, moany, overweight and overpaid waste of space off our hands.

Good thing I’m not running the club, eh.

How has he played today, or need I ask considering  we are failing to beat Plymouth  after 105 minutes?

Oh Rob... :sinkingship:

Technically speaking we were only beating them at 116 minutes so the point still stands 😛

Come to think of it, Lukaku wouldn't need a life buoy, he has enough fat to keep him afloat 🤔 Still, he is a one man Titanic.
