I'll be honest I completely discounted about Gallagher because I don't see any scenario in which Tuchel plays him in a midfield 2 nor can I see him working in our set up.

I think it's clear Kovacic, Jorginho and Kante are the only midfielders Tuchel thinks can play in his set up and the fact 2 of them are over 30 and out of contract next season are why he's apparently pushing so hard for De Jong.

Barcelona still has not yet sent any of the documentation for the 4th lever. Its effect is not immediate: an auditor must review & sign to authorize. And they are very complicated. If Barça doesn’t document the 4th lever they’ll not have all their signings on debut (via @relevo)

Can they register players AFTER the start of their season on Saturday? Or is tomorrow the absolute deadline?

I have read that they cannot play unless registered but can be registered to the end of the transfer window which is you say Sep 2. So no registration for Saturday is a sign of weakness but not fatal.

Christensen turned us down to sign with Barca.

Dembele we tried to sign in January as well as later on a free, decided to re-sign with Barca.

Raphinha picked Barca over us.

Kounde picked Barca over us.

Lewa joined Barca, apparently could have joined PSG or us though I am not convinced on this one.

Alonso picked staying at home to try and join Barca rather than start for us vs Everton.

De Jong would rather stay at Barca than join us or United.

Auba wants to stay at Barca

Everything on social media would indicate he's staying. My guess is Barca will continue to defer the payments he owed cajole him into taking a temporary pay cut with the promise to repay the money once the storm has blown over and Barca are back on a financial footing.  Xavi will lie through his teeth and convince him that with the new signings they are assured to win the league and Champions League which will increase revenue and deJong will go down in Barca history as being one of those players that saved the club.  

Great if we get him, I think he will add something to the squad and we will be able to release Jorghino for decent money...but there is lots of other deadwood that needs to go.

Barcelona will almost certainly have to offload at least 1 player in order to register their signings. I suspect their preference is Depay but that may not be enough on its own. De Jong's hefty wage is problematic for them, and I am sure they will do everything they can to convince him to take a pay cut. Because of his reluctance to leave I think he will be staying either way. If Barcelona still need to raise more money I can see them offloading Aubameyang instead.

I agree with that notwithstanding that they have said only one of depay/auba is leaving.

Depay is going to leave, rest will be made up with paycuts.

I still can't believe the amount of time we have spent this summer chasing players that won't happen,its been extremely embarrassing to be honest.
